I have a stupid confession to make. When I first read the LoTR series (including The Hobbit and The Silmarillion), I always imagined the wee ickle hobbitses to be... well, basically, little rabbit-people. Which is funny because conies aren't native to Britain. And J.R.R.T. actually jossed this theory himself. Oh well.Meriadoc and Peregrin pre-journey. Quick paint/ color exercise, Photoshop. Unfinished, but I probably won't ever finish it. Oh well.

That is so interesting! I have never heard that theory from anyone before now, but it's so not that far off when you think about it! It would make it so cute!

The only thing is that later in the book they eat rabbits... so they are rabbit cannibals? They do like mushrooms though.

Some cultures eat monkeys, but I don't consider that cannibalism. I think that as long as they're very far removed, species/ evolution yadda yadda, it's not such a big deal.

D'awwwwwwww, that's adorable, actually.....I never imagined hobbits with rabbit ears and feet, but I have to admit I kinda like the idea. I always imagined them wearing feathers and things in their hair, myself.
Also Merry and Pippin are my favorites and I love that you drew them so adorably. <3333333
