About the rain, I used a line-shaped brush to draw then added motion effect for it by using motion blur

Oh, that was an useful technique. When you flip the painting, you can see it in the very different way. So that you can spot the mistake which cannot be spotted before because your eyes are too used to it.
And it also can helps you check the balance of the painting.
