I really like the colours in this one.  And the furrows in the foreground (if that is what they are) add a nice texture contrast.

So where is the "big bend" country?  Aside from Texas, that is...

Thanks!  Yes, those are furrows.  After wheat harvest last fall the stubble was turned under and this field will lie fallow this year.

 

The Columbia River flows south out of British Columbia.  Then near Grand Coulee Dam it turns west and makes a huge 100 mile sweeping bend before heading south again to the Oregon border.  That big bend forms the northwest rim of the Columbia Plateau...2000 feet above the river.    You get a better idea if you look at a map of the state.

You know, from your description, the 'Big Bend' could encompass most of Eastern Washington.

Not most of Eastern Washington.  Just that corner of the plateau where the river bends.  Although most of Eastern Washington is on the plateau.
