... i will try to give a hint

i use paper wich is not for watercolors/tempera, the paper have its own texture
on the backgrownd/far details i use more water and i paint on several layers
in the backgrownd i use dry brushes and palete/painting knife to imitate strokes...

well basilcy i do that in all my traditional stuff
