I am of two minds. First I need to admit that I worked for one of the companies that made the tower component. I think they may have a place in the overall system of energy management. But you are right about the small amount of power produced. You also should remember the power and resources needed to make and machine the steel, the oil to make the fiber glass and plastics used in the blades, mining the copper and aluminum for every thing else.

I used to think they added character to the landscape, but never thought about the bird hazard. Still think it's better than harvesting fossil fuel, then again I'm under the impression they only generate a small fraction of the energy.
