Dreams. Gateways to imaginary worlds that you have been to once before- be it from a game or an actual physical location. And you are either alone or with a friend or a stranger that you have met once or twice before or from skimming through photos in an album of sorts- as the brain isn’t capable of creating new ones. Human brains at least. Although for both Sirius and Howl… it seemed different for the both of them. They never knew each other before their dreams started to connect with one another, leaving both confused as soon as they woke up. At first it was just a silly thing. Walking in another’s dream? How crazy was that? It sounded crazy, until it happened again a second time. After a month of normal dreams- they found themselves back on the moor at twilight. A coincidence really. The moorland seemed familiar to them, but neither of them couldn’t put a claw to it. They decided to brush it off once again, going their separate ways once the sun started to climb more into the night sky. They awoke once again; not sure of dream that they had together was real or not. Another month would pass- and it became a pattern from then on out. And the more they had dreams together, the more and more vivid...the more lucid that they have become.

It started with summoning sand and built sand castles on the moor together- each having superb skills at building them- which in reality they couldn't build a proper moat to save their lives- nor their kingdom.

Then it evolved into pranks- scaring each other with what they feared the most. It wasn't kind, but it was funny to the other- which they soon made up for by having a little heart-to-heart with each other.

However all good things must come to an end, right? Well...it did. And it hit like a freight train.

The moorland started to split apart.

It didn't take them long enough to realize that something was wrong the moment their dreams were out of sync with each other. It started with one of them being late. That was their first argument.

"Why were you late?"
"I'm late? What about you? I've waited for hours!"
"Oh- don't start with that nonsense!"

The two bickered- and the more that they argued and the louder that it got, the more and more that the moor would split down the middle. It wouldn't be long until the both of them would stop and realize what was happening- but alas, they were too late. The rift had grown too large and out of control by the time their argument died down into nothing but pettiness and grade-school insults.

The moor and heather lost its purplish hues and the sky was turning dark despite the rising sun. The rift ran through the moor like a deep scar- the grass and plants wilted and scorched by an unseen fire. The rift was also wide- wide enough that in order to get across- one of them would had have to sprout a pair of wings and fly over- or build a bridge- however that bridge was already burned...There was no way to fix what has been destroyed.

Months- even years have passed and they had never had a dream about the moorland- or of either of them. Honestly would you even be surprised that they might've forgotten about each other- even with what they have been through? Could it be? Yes its so.

But was it truly the end?

No. No it was not. In fact- the two have met again. Back on the moor- the scarred and scorched earth was slowly healing. One paw after another, they crossed paths, staring into each other. They have met before.

"What's your name?"
"Sirius. Yours?"
Howl."
