Ah! I've only ever been to California once. It was January, and most of the locals were wearing toques and sweaters!
They thought we were crazy in our t-shirts and shorts!
Snow is amazing. It's so fluffy and white and it stings your bear skin if you touch it. Also, you can make maple taffy with it. So good!

The thing is, people don't really believe it unless they try. I'll admit I learned by experience.
Also, it's not just poles. Anything metal will cause your tongue or even fingers to stick.
And where I live (Yukon Territory. Up Norther next to Alaska) it gets so cold that when you blink your eyelids stick together. Breathing in also causes the hairs in your nose to freeze together, making breathing a difficult task >-<
