Description Edit: OMG, A DD Thank you Ojad0 and Hanratty-Stock

Edit 2: If you are using 7x, instead of inputting the locations manually, just base the locations of the transforms on the screenshots. Something about the way the program recognizes locations changed with this new one.

I promise I'll reply to all the fav's and comments later tonight I don't want to forget anyone

Oh, and I don't know who hit print request, but I won't make this image available for it. I'll make the actual fractal which is titled Storm (same image) available for it instead. Thank you for the interest

The download includes a 75 page tutorial on how to make four different fractals. Its really detailed and I've spent the past two weeks writing it.

Its mostly pictures though so don't worry about a long reading.

I really hope you guys enjoy this, I've never put this much work into anything.

The download also includes a pack of 100 gradients, and a .flame file of the contents of this tutorial.

For quick navigation of the tutorial I have included a contents page, simply click on the listing of the area you wish to view. The .pdf will automatically take you to the area.

Hi, does anyone know why I can't find any link or button to access the tutorials or downloadable files? What's the secret? I'll follow links to the tutorials, get to the page, see the reference picture, but there's nowhere to click to find the actual tutorials/files.

Wait, I clicked it a couple of more times and it popped up.  Keep on trying.  Download, ZIP download, 6.6 mb is what you need to look for.  Its under add to favorites.  Download is in blue lettering, the rest is in grey.

That's the pc version.  The mobile device version, its under the main picture and 4 icons, the wording is all the same but its all in grey.

When you find it, just keep on clicking on it, you might have to right click and so on but the download will eventually pop up.  I have no idea why its being a little wonky.

I don't know what to tell you but its giving me an error as if the file isn't there anymore.

I do not have a copy of the file on hand, sorry.

Greetings! I've recently started with Apophysis 7x but it seems I'm missing some plugins frequently used in different tutorials. Linear3D is nowhere to be found and when I try to install plugins like Spherical3D for example, I just get access violation errors. What am I doing wrong? I've downloaded the latest version of 7x from sourceforge.

I haven't kept up to date with the program, I'm sorry but I'd be more of an hindrance then a help these days.

The last time I tried to use the program I had the same problem you do and I couldn't figure out where I was going wrong.

Your link didn't work, but I went to the group page on facebook.  I'm assuming you're Rosie?  If so, you're doing pretty good

I really like the blueish purplish one that has a bit of 3D to it and a pretty swirl in the middle.  Its really nice   (Its the one that was posted about 16 or so hours ago, I'm not sure how to link to what I'm talking about

Hi Yes I'm Rosie. Sorry about the link - not good with them! Glad you like my work. I know the fractal you mean - everyone likes that one!. I like messing with julian etc! I know what you mean about getting addicted to fractals! Rosie x

I'm not surprised that everyone likes that one   It looks like a fractal Colosseum   I'm trying to limit my fractaling down to a bare minimum since my laptop is sorta crappy and I'm already pressed for time   I can't risk getting addicted again, it'd end up killing this laptop probably

You're welcome

It may not work perfectly, its over five years old and the program has changed a lot over the years.  The coordinates tend not to work anymore, so if that occurs just eyeball the positions of the transforms in the screenshots instead

I hope it works

What is J Wildfire?  I'm never heard of that!

Its great that its working, and don't worry you'll get good pretty quick if you just keep on practicing   Practice makes perfect when it comes to Apophysis

I can't seem to get anything close to what you created! I'm using Aphophysis7X and saw the pointers you mentioned before in the comments but still I'm getting nowhere near anything similar, any insight that might help me? This is my outcome: imgur.com/mfroZtk I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Can you hit ctrl + c in the program and paste it into a note and send it to me?  This will allow me to see your parameters.  Also, can you load the flame file that came with with the tutorial and do the same for the fractal you're working on?  I have a 64 bit OS currently and it hates Apophysis with a fiery burning passion

NoodledipteeDoodle In reply to TsukinoHikari20 [2014-07-20 13:09:47 +0000 UTC]

I figured it out! I guess I shouldn't be following tutorials late at night, makes me misread things. Anyway thanks for the quick reply and willingness to help me out, great tutorial! Also which OS are you using because Apophysis works fine for me on W7 64bit.

Edit: Okay small update, it works on Apohpysis 2.08 3Dhack but it doesn't on Apophysis7X, even the flame from the tutorial pack doesn't come close to the original picture when using Apophysis7X.

TsukinoHikari20 In reply to NoodledipteeDoodle [2014-07-21 02:28:29 +0000 UTC]

Windows 8, or at least mine, hates it

I can do basic stuff but I can't use most of my old flame files because the a good chunk of the plugins haven't been re-wrote for 64 bit.  A lot of my older work uses a lot of those programs that haven't been re-wrote

Hi, I am a newby to fractals (although I made a few in the past), and tried to follow along with your tutorial, which is very clear and easy to follow, but what I don't get is that I follow along and don't see the same flames you create, even after making the 2nd transform. This might have to do with the version: I am using 2.09 with the 3d hack. Can that differ so much? I have tried a few tuts and seem to end up with the same problem every time. Anyone has a thought on that?
Before diving into the program, I like to follow some tuts to understand how things are created, but it just doesn't seem to work.
Any help is highly appreciated!

TsukinoHikari20 In reply to Arwen1964 [2013-05-28 11:51:38 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it is THAT different.

Its very frustrating to a lot of us too.

Anyways, the issue is with the locations. Instead of entering in the coordinates I put down, try to move the transforms to where they appear in the screenshots in the tutorial.

It should work then. I'm sorry about this, but that's the only solution I know of.

The program changed about a year or two after I wrote this tutorial and I no longer have a clue where I left the original files. Which is why I haven't updated it.

Arwen1964 In reply to TsukinoHikari20 [2013-05-28 21:40:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your efforts. I have tried to change the transforms to look like the screenshots, but it is slightly off, which doesn't give a good result. From knowing what it should look like, I can learn to create my own .
I will keep on trying, and let you know how I get along.

TsukinoHikari20 In reply to Arwen1964 [2013-05-29 18:51:02 +0000 UTC]

Okay, let's see if I can help with that.

Go to the triangle tab. You see where it has where you can enter in the degrees you can turn a transform?

We'll play with those so you won't have to do this manually.

Let's say you're looking at the first one covered in the tutorial.

Transform one stays in the same position.

Transform two you turn at a 45 degree angle counter clockwise.

By units I mean use the thing directly below where you can enter the degrees in.

Move it upwards exactly 0.23 units.

Move it right by exactly 0.2 units.

For transform three you turn it at a 135 degrees counter clockwise.

For transform four it gets a bit hairy, but its doable.

Turn it at a 45 degree angle counter clockwise.

Move it downards by 1.2 units.

That should work to your exact positions.

If it doesn't then the program has been updated again and I might scream a bit lol

Don't attempt to do it by manually dragging it, that won't work at all on this particular sort of fractal if you want exact results.

I highly suggest learning how to eye the grid and figure these things out since a bunch of older tutorials are now off due to how the program was updated.

Hope this helps

This has been really useful on giving me a basic understanding. I'm working on a derivative work right now -- still not completely clear on how much different a fractal needs to be to be "new" so if mine doesn't qualify when I upload it, let me know and I'll take it down again. Thanks so much for the awesome learning process!
