does the tear represent the family he lost or the family he wishes he could have, but won't go after b/c he doesn't want them hurt? (i.e. the team or Lisbon)

Really, I'll leave the interpretation up to you. I like to leave my concepts open for outside interpretations. But for me, I do see it as the unvarying pain he always has gnawing at him deep inside because of the loss of his wife and daughter and his ultimate helplessnesss to change the situation that has already come and past.
