Description Because today is Holocaust Rememberance day, I made this stamp.

Information
The star you see in the middle (emblazoned by the word 'Jude') was what Jews had to wear during the Holocaust to separate them from other groups in the concentration camps. There were many, many ethnic groups imprisoned in those camps, along with anyone the Nazis found 'undesirable' (disabled, political prisoner, etc). In the camps, differently colored triangles sewn onto clothing (including the star) indicated why you were in the camp (Political prisoner, Jew, Homosexual, Roma, basically anyone the Nazis found 'undesirable').

Remember the Holocaust. Never Again!
No, I don't mean beating up your German neighbor who happens to have a Hitler mustache. Participate in peaceful protests against Neo-Nazis. Urge your country to help groups experiencing genocide (Darfur, etc.). Tell the story to your children. The Holocaust did happen.

Yes, the Holocaust did happen, and hopefully will not happen ever again. But it happened to more ethnical groups than you listed in your comment. People of many other ethnicities were exterminated and suffered from nazis. And later from soviets.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I was away from dA. >.>;

I am aware of that. Perhaps I should change the description to simply say "anyone they found 'undesirable' "? I feel bad for excluding many groups, but listing everyone would be near-impossible (and I would definitely leave at least one group out, simply due to absentmindedness/human error).

Np. Its understandable that we have also offline of da lives.

Yes its good idea to use this phrase "anyone they found 'undesirable' " ...

And you are right. There was so many groups of people that its I guess impossible to list everyone. Nazis were like hurricane killing everyone on their way.

I didnt wanted to sound like pressing you just wanted to express my opinion that there is some weird tendency nowadays to reduce amount of victims to Jews and oh maybe Gypsies only... For example in my city there was concentration camp for everyone except Jews. Mostly for polish people and other nationalities including good GERMANS (oh yes there were such). And for example mentally ill people were being killed right at the place where they found them - at hospitals and so on.

I love this stamp and well I am so sad that most students are not learning about it. I actually got in an argument about it. The girl I was talking to said "It was to sad and it makes me depressed and stuff." She made me so mad, I ignored my temper and said, "It is a very sad event, yes, but what is more people like you who want to not learn about it are around. Soon the people who know a lot about it will pass away and soon people who know nothing about the event are in the world letting those who died be forgotten. I am sorry but a little discomfort is something you can offer up for all those who died." I actually wanted to be a history teacher and for three weeks maybe more just teach about that part of history because it is so important. January 27 is actually a set date to remember the Holocaust I plan on that day to get every classroom in my school to light one candle for those who died, which from much research is what people do on the day to remember the victims. I would actually want to have some sort of a memorial service because I go to a private school and I am sure they would not mind. If that happens it would probbaly make my life and I would be glad people never forget.

Thank you!
It is very strange how many people don't know about it. There are definitely some people I know who don't know what the Holocaust was. If they were younger, perhaps I would understand why they didn't know, but they should know about it at this age!

Then again, I went to a Jewish school and learned about the Holocaust in third grade.They didn't show us anything graphic, of course.
