When was my last submission? But really, this was supposed to be posted long ago... I had planned to. Issues with the scanner...is all I can say. Some of the lines are still faded, but what may I do? Perhaps I'll try again soon.

My simple explanation...it is an emblem of relying on simple things of this world for one's source of life. That, and of being overcome by one's habits and those habits sometimes becoming superstitions. The treasure box on the right represents his past life and the good memories he holds dear. While this is a good thing, at times we become too attached to our memories and begin to yearn for those days to live instead of the ones we have now. (does anyone else here have that problem at times?)
The spider and her web on the left represent fear. There are so many things we may fear these days and those fears may very well take over our mind and eventually our dreams.
So these things seem like only a small part of life, but we don't notice a lot of the time the large part they play in our decisions, our attitudes. They wrap around him and he doesn't even realize how tangled in them he is until soon the owl creeps up.
I've read that in many places owls are a bad omen, often seen as a symbol of death. He may not physically die, but spiritually he is dying at a slow pace. These are just two of many ill or insignificant things in life we often allow to consume our everything...
