Description =LadyAliceofOz "rescued" these poor daffodils from our neighbor's yard. She said she was saving them from being unappreciated, and loved....
sounds like she ripped them off to me!

I shot this with available light from a window in the kitchen.

Thanks so much! I sorta worked to try to get a "feel" about it.

You're welcome. I think its cool you went for getting a 'feel' about it. That is something that is lacking in my photographs.

I think it's something that lacks in a lot of mine too. Especially when I'm shooting without thinking. When I slow down and think I really do a lot better.

That makes sense. I haven't thought about it like that. I'm always concentrating on light and composition in the view finder.

Too many times my brain defaults to "perfect exposure" the problem is "perfect exposure" is not necessarily what I'm after.

I understand perfectly. I usually take three shots of everything. One under exposed, one exposed correctly and one over exposed.

I'm finding when I want this type of look I set the cam on Aperture priority, set it to f/16, then use the exposure compensation, and run it a -.03 . I have one I'll put up later where I did that with a tripod and it's much easier to deal with. I think it's a little better than this one.

I've always believed there's a story behind every shot, so I try to include it.

Thanks!

Yeah for Alice. She is the Champion and Rescuer of all lonely and forgotten flowers.
and a lovely shot you captured with the stolen prize.

Alice grew up in rural Oklahoma, there's a lot of old homesteads that the houses have long since fell down or disappeared, but you'll look out there and there will be a little grove of trees and Irises, or Day Lillys or Daffodils, that were planted decades ago... she wanted to go dig those up when she was just a kid!
She had me dig up the Day Lillies we have in front of our house from a culvert about a mile or two away from here along side the road....

I was really trying to get the texture in it. Actually it's pretty easy to just shoot a bunch of flowers... That's why my shots of cut flowers tend to try to show just a bit more. I pretty much got the focus that I wanted with the F/5.6 setting.
Thanks!

you weren't supposed to tell that!!
they were gonna be under appreciated, because most of them were on the ground, up next to the fence, facing our yard... but out so far in the back, that no one could see them from the house but, yeah, they were lonely

I am glad you did a little poaching Alice. You made me and the flowers happier. Now you will need to get a cape covered with flowers so you that you will blend in on your next mission.
