Description This is a model that I created in Blender 3D (v 2.63a). I've really wanted to get back into the swing of things, so I decided to buckle down and try to make a new highpoly model for you guys. Took about 6 hours to make. No references. All my own, original work.

EDIT: FINALLY! DeviantArt let me change the image!

Go here for more awesome models: [link]

Enjoy!

Yeah, but it should be that inconvenient. I heard that i'm not the only one with this problem, and that DeviantArt are fixing this problem in a coming update.

Nice!. I like the cheek rest and the shape of the weapon. But, as always, I'd point out something .

IMHO, the double circle sights in the rear are unnecessary. Additional sight was useful when the gun was a lot longer. But I only saw that solution once or twice. It'd be just a waste of field of view, since it'd cover the world more than it'd help in aiming. In addition, the far rear sight should not cover the front sight post. I'd suggest to make 3-point sight (like in a AK or pistol) or post+circle type sights (like in AR15).

As for the rectangular cutout of the barrel... Well, I don't know what type of ammo it shoots, but grooves inside the barrel should make the projectile rotate to stabilize it. Even, if it's gauss type of a gun or something. Also, ammo with circular cutout is easier to carry and use than ones with rectangular cutout. It just don't need to be fit excactly, as it fit in any angle. But as I said, these are just my assumptions.

I have still been working on this model, and I have already addressed the issue with the rear sight. I was thinking that the gun could be a laser rifle, and the cartridges in the magazine would be energy cartridges, hence the square barrel head. Maybe it would be better if it shot regular rounds?

I can't tell you what would be better, since it's your concept. I can only say whats odd for me

If that one peg-type thing is the charging handle, could be bigger. But overall, I love the design!

It's a mag release actually. Trying to experiment with new concepts, outside the ones that everyone uses

You can tell it's a mag release because it's pulled back when the gun's drum mag is removed. Check the images with the mag removed.

That's not the charging handle, it's the mag release. I'm trying to play around with different ideas, stepping outside the norm and whatnot. If you think it is too small, I'll definitely resize it
