The massive dog known as Lockjaw is a canine offshoot of the Inhumans an offshoot of humanity that was genetically altered by the Kree centuries ago. [5] The Inhumans kept themselves hidden from humanity in their city known as Attilan (also known as the Great Refuge) out of fear for centuries, developing a high technological society with a focus on genetics. With the discovery of the Terrigen Mist, the Inhumans would expose themselves it in order to gain fantastic abilities. [6][5] Lockjaw's origins are mystery, the canine has the ability to teleport. Sources theorize that these powers were derived from exposure to the Terrigen Mists. [7] At one time it was stated that Lockjaw was a humanoid who was deformed by exposure to these same mists, [8] however this revelation has been exposed as an elaborate prank. [4] Lockjaw is the loyal pet of the Inhuman royal family, also known as the House of Agon, particularly Crystal and her cousin Black Bolt, the most recurring ruler of the Inhumans. Lockjaw is regularly used as transportation to traverse between time, space and dimensions.
