Description

Ertzaña, Basque Police, 1936.

This is a set that I begun in 2013 or even before and was in a WIP stage until today (it has the number 23!). I made some small edition and decided to post since I don't have any intention of improving it much more in a near future. Even if I know that the style is still from 2013 and the set has some inacurancies in the uniform (particularly in the shirt), but at least we have an avaiable set for the Ertzana for my Spanish Civil War series.

On October 4, 1936, the Basque Statute of Autonomy was promulgated, later the Basque Government was constituted, and the problem of Public Security would become one of the main lines of action. Among the main measures carried out by the Basque Government in matters of Public Security is the creation of the Ertzaña, with an infantry section and another motorized section, with about 1,200 men in total. The foot Ertzaña had four Companies, with its section of transport, administration and intendancy. The Ertzain Igiletua, or motorized section, drove both fast motorcycles and English-made Riley model cars that were able to reach Bilbao. The Dictatorship of General Franco dissolved the "Ertzaña".
