Description Since I was in quarantine for months, I thought it would be a good time to finally work on this project that has been brewing in the back of my mind for a long time. Welcome to Castle Solitude! The diorama display that can also function as a DnD map. I even made some miniatures of my characters to populate the area. Also featured is Arthur Pendragon, a dragon sculpture I bought at a convention. His name is Arthur Pendragon because the sword he's holding is also a letter opener (get it? Pen. Dragon. Because you write letters in pen and he's holding a - okay. Kind of a stupid pun, but I think it's fitting).

Much visual research was done for this project and wow did I have to dig deep for some references. The structure seemed to be a blend of romanesque and high gothic architecture, but I wanted to go the more high gothic route with the sharp designs, pointed arches and stained glass windows. I'm certain the original manufacturers didn't really take art history into account as they just made a basic playset with plenty of openings to fit tiny hands through, but of course I wanted to do my own research and put that art history to use. I actually do enjoy doing visual research as I look up reference images and refreshing my art history knowledge. Sometimes I find cool tidbits of information that I didn't know before.
