If your wondering about the title, that's his two middle initials and his last name.
The (S) is a part of his name that got taken off. He doesn't know that it's a part of his true last name, nor anything about himself retaining to that name, thus the S is now a D.

but the detail--I never understand how you do it, but you have always done well with it. I really like how the hands / markings / fur came out as well as the tails.

And no, not considerably. To top things off a lot has happened in my family too, between losing an uncle suddenly the day after Easter and my mom having a cancerous blockage removed recently and money woes so it's been crazy needless to say. Just trying to hang in there each day, I guess.
