Premiering in 1996 on the 7th of October, Hey Arnold! would go on to be one of Nickelodeon's most acclaimed 90s classics and is currently twenty-five years old at the time of writing this. This series followed the exploits of a rugby... I mean football-headed kid and his band of classmates as they face down the hardships of the big city and learn life lessons. While Doug may have laid the foundation for slice-of-life cartoons going forward, but Hey Arnold! refined it and is able to stay distinct and memorable today through its chill vibe accentuated by its jazz soundtrack and more human storytelling and cast of characters that helped it to resonate with people more than any other Nicktoon. This is another show that I never actually grew up with myself, but I did get the full series boxset for Christmas last year and do want to get around to watching through it all.

On the flip side, Fanboy and Chum Chum actually was a show I watched quite a bit when it was on. Premiering on the 14th in 2009 and now turning twelve years old, this show has been not looked upon kindly by Nickelodeon enthusiasts or cartoon fans in general, though it does have a sizeable cult following and recently saw some brief resurgence in meme culture. I myself am in the camp that feel the hate has been grossly overblown and welcome the more positive words going about it as of late. While I will concede that there are plenty of annoying moments in the show, I also think that quite a bit of the humour was genuinely more clever than some people lead on. What I especially think is admirable about the show is its visuals, as its probably one of the most cartoony and colourful CGI shows I think I've seen. Its especially impressive when taking into account it wasn't based on a pre-existing movie or game like other Nickelodeon shows done in 3-D, and preceded the likes of Hotel Transylvania for having squash and stretch CG models that didn't break the rigs.

And then there's As Told by Ginger, which premiered on the 25th in the year 2000 and is now twenty-one years old. I feel like many male viewers like myself never really tuned into this show as kids as we felt it wasn't for us in due to not feeling able to relate to its female centric look into junior high school. Nowadays when it comes to discussion of this show, it either revolves around the show being lambasted for its character designs, as they're seen as off-putting for how the character's lips are located on the chin, or praising it for how daring it was for featuring things like interracial romance and discussing issues like substance abuse. I've only really seen a couple episodes of the series, with one of those being "A Lesson in Tightropes" and... yeah, I definitely wasn't ready for how hard this show could go and should definitely get around to seeing it in bulk to get a proper opinion of it.
