Twi-night in San Diego

After the toilsome day is through
I sit amid a twi-night sky
There is no other word
That fits this occasion
For the sky glows of
Electric bulbs and the insomnia
Of the bright city
Yet i sit here
Writing by the light
Of a cinnamon scented candle
Looking for my friend Orion
And yes, there he is as usual,
Alone amidst the other frightened constellations
For they grow fearful of the ever-burning city
Peeking out from a star here and there
Yet the brave warrior Orion
Shines brighter than the imitating airplanes
And the sulfrous, red glow
Of this ever kindled city.
