Hello, I am a big fan of your work and have been watching you for a while- very inspiring, thank you! Now I'm not much of a fine artist- I'm an illustration student- however I have noticed something that has thrown me a little in this and a previous painting of yours which includes milk. While your technique makes all of your textures look fantastic and very realistic, the use of thick paint is making the milk itself look thick, almost congealed to me. I imagine this was not your intent, so in the spirit of artistic confidence I thought perhaps I would let you know. Of course this is only my opinion, and it definitely doesn't poorly affect your beautiful work.

Thank you again for your contribution to the world of art,
-Emily

congealed, yum! Sounds tasty. Interesting observation.
Yes you are seeing the thickest impasto in the whites!
Some explanation: A classical approach to paint thickness: thin translucent darks building to thicker opaque lights, the idea being that the thickest and most opaque paint bounces the most light back into the viewer's eyes, drawing attention to the vibrant glowy subject matter. So the milk--being both the lightest part of the painting and the subject of interest--will have the thickest paint out of everything in the painting.
