Newton is my personal favorite LBP character. He reminds me The Magician and Gremlin Prescott somehow.

Lapis is Newton
Jasper is the Titans

Well, Newton never really loses his sense of self and becomes a different person when he becomes possessed, he just becomes more evil. So I'm not sure if that really works as a comparison...

I haven't played little big planet, but I think I've seen this character before.
This image look really cool! And I like the colored lights and the rain for the overall mood of the image. You really also got the villainy out by the pose and face(light bulb) expression itself.

I agree: LBP3 was good, but the second game is by far the best. 3 felt just a tad rushed, and although the characters were hilarious, they could have been a bit more fleshed out. I'd love to hear more of their backstories & actually get to see them interact with each other rather than simply guide the player through the levels.
And the way the final Titan just kinda...poofs out of existence when Newton tells him off felt like an ass pull on the writers' part. Like, c'mon! That scene could've been really dramatic and intense, but no. It was over before it even began.

I was personally disappointed that Nana Pud sets herself up as kind of a Larry Da Vinci character and then...stays on the boat in Manglewood and leaves you alone for the rest of the game until you beat up her worthless son.
And some of the creators were kind of one-note, which is sad. Pinky deserved better I think, as did Papal Mache. Marlon Random did kind of work by himself and felt like the most developed, but then again, the game itself feels the most developed at the very beginning and then peters out as time goes on.
All in all, good game, but LBP2 felt more complete and more "perfect" in a way. Plus I feel the characters introduced in LBP2 are the strongest in the series. (Avalon is best Creator)
YES! The final titan was such a cop-out!
I also wanted to see some internal struggle with Newton as the game went on and he was ejecting more and more titans from his body. They establish that his face is purple when possessed and yellow when not, so they could've had scenes where the purple just kind of slowly turns yellow as he's talking to you and then slowly his tone of voice turns from maniacal to desperate as he suddenly starts pleading for Sackboy to help him. That would've been all sorts of terrifying and I would've loved it.

you wrote that a year ago but i think when Newton is going to release a certain titan he should at least change color when releasing the titan so we'll which it be but if they took a little more time the game would be perfect!

also the titans don't really have a personality, that what was so good about the past antagonists such as the collector or the hollow, hell! even the negativatron had more personality then the titans!

To be fair, I was kind of disappointed by The Collector too, mostly because of the way his story arc ends. (but then again, LittleBigPlanet is a very feel-good game so I'm glad it was a case of no hard feelings) The Negativitron didn't really need too much of a personality because it was a horrifying monster destroying things, although the beta script where The Negativitron wasn't even the real bad guy but just a construct made by the actual main villain probably would've been a lot cooler.
But yeah, you're right on the Titans. There's three of them, they're obviously controlling Newton to some extent, so how do they all behave? Was the purple one just the most evil of them all and that's why he takes a trip in Newton's brain space?
But yeah, I kind of wanted some internal struggle between Newton and the Titans. That would've been kind of disturbing but in a fun way.

(its ok the way its the way I thought of the collector was a bit of a mediphor for some of the community, copying things from popular creators and making people think its there own)but compared to the titans, the negativatron has BOATLOADS of personality! also just a bit of a question? have you played lbp vita?

Turquoisephoenix In reply to Skaithespirit [2015-10-07 21:55:46 +0000 UTC]
The Negativitron could also represent griefing and players who do things like start destroying your pod when you invite them to do the 4x challenges, and The Hoard represents people who just collect prize bubbles and are obsessed with percentages and having all the things instead of sharing creativity with the world.
And I have yet to play LBP Vita or LBP PSP for that matter. Maybe I'll play them later down the road.

thats a great theory! a GAME THEORY XD! also trust me lbp vita is DARK! it seems to be alot more disturbing then the past games, just take a look at the final area, spooky mansion, souless remains of the main character? check! forced to kill innocent lives turned corrupt? check! disturbing atmosphere? check! creepy music and jumpscare worthy hazards? check! FREAKIN NIGHT ON BARE MOUNTAIN MUSIC!? FUCKIN CHECK!!

Yeah, having Nana Pud accompany you throughout the game would've been great! If she were to actually speak with the other Creators, I can imagine her & Marlon having a sort of hate/friend relationship like Da Vinci & Avalon. XDD (And I agree: Avalon is best.)
...Holy crap, that sounds absolutely disturbing...I wanna write dialogue for that now.

Yeah, Nana Pud was a fun character and it's a shame she just was stuck in the very beginning. I imagine her also taking Papal Mache and Pinky down a couple pegs. Oh man, imagine Nana and Pinky yelling at each other about Newton. LBP3, you could've been so much greater.
I remember being mad that Avalon didn't actually show up in the kart racing game. How DARE you put Avalonia in a game and then have Avalon be on vacation.
I'm really tempted to draw that now, honestly. Evil Newton was creepy by himself; adding that extra flavor of him struggling for mental control from these eldritch titans really punches up the creepy rating.

Not gonna lie, that obnoxious selfie is probably why I will end up buying that DLC. The face Sackboy makes in it is perfection.
With all these LittleBigPlanet ideas for me to draw, I fear that game's eventually going to get its own folder in my gallery.
Not that I mind...

well there's a bit of a chance that DLC will come out giving a bit more to the story, kinda like what happened with the move pack being a bit of a side plot in the main story of lbp 2.

Nah, the reason I called it overshaded is not because I thought the shading itself was too shaded to be good. It's because, if it's meant to be a movie screenshot, it would not have this much lighting because an animated film would simply not have the budget to shade this way. So there's the TV bars and the cel drop shadow but it doesn't entirely make sense, admittingly.
But I had to shade all of Newton.
I had to.
Newton's awesomeness happened to be in the form of low-key patheticness and getting someone else to go help him with his problems. After all, his dad's a legend while he's an incompetent oik.

This is so far the best picture of Newton I've ever seen! To be honest, it's actually even better than the game! You really captured all the 'emotions' that he doesn't have, and the bone chilling look of his stare into SB's soul. This is truly spectactical! You simply MUST draw more of him!! (You don't have to, I just really want you to!)
Hey, um, Newton? Can I join your side? I shall be your personal servant to help you with your evil deeds.

Oh no, you're flattering me! Goodness, I don't think I drew the best Newton. Probably the most insane Newton, yes.
But yes, I had to amp up the creepy because that scene, man. I will admit, the last thing I expected was seeing a bunch of titans take refuge in Newton's soul and then have him go off the deep end.
Newton was a lot of fun because, even though he was possessed by the Titans, he seemed to retain his personality and mannerisms for the most part. Newton was still there. He's just...quite a bit unhinged and evil, with all of that creative magic really taking a toll on his sanity. Which, in a way, is a great deal creepier than if you saw this monster speaking out of Newton's husk.
And the way he kept calling you his friend was such a creepy little touch.
Oh, I have ideas for more Newton pictures. They might take a while just because I'm such a slowpoke with things. I do want to at least draw him with Avalon, because they both seem to have similar personality quirks. Only Avalon is way more successful.

So true XD In really glad that you go in exquisite detail! Usually, people who play games and are artists don't really take the time to explain their work magnificently, they expect everyone to just understand what's going on and they expect everyone to already understand how the artist felt while drawing- but you- you're spectacular! I have never seen or even heard of an artist this amazing! I think you should sell your work~ thanks for taking the time to read and reply to my comments! I just need to express how I feel towards you, I can't just not tell you that you're awesome! I believe you could also write stories- if you don't already! Please do show more art, I'm really glad you are part of this community!
(P.p.p.p.s.
I love your art of you didn't know already X3)
