Description Gutted. Everything.

Interior-wise, anyways. All three seats needed to be taken out and reupholstered (might go original, might go custom). They'll remain out until that's done. Also ripped out the 'carpet', which was a floor mat held in place with some sort of tar (kind of like the stuff to patch potholes in a road; that sticky, crumbly stuff). The back of the rear seat was pretty moldy and needed to be torn out. It practically crumbled in my hands. Found out the horn doesn't and the locks on the car really stick; luckily it's in my brother's garage. There's a lot of rust under the carpeting, but that was expected for how old this thing is. The floor panels need to be replaced or patched up with a large piece of sheet metal. It's not a complete loss, and my brother has access to a welder and we should be able to fix up those gaping holes. How the seats managed to not fall through the floor is a complete mystery (witchcraft or magic, one of those two, possibly both). Found out the battery is under the rear seat. Will probably have to rustoleum or rhino line the interior a bit to stop some of the rust. None of the stuff past the 'transmission hump' is through. That's all just surface rust that can be scrubbed out with a wire brush. The rear-interior-side-panel things (red in the pic) are in really great condition, but might redo them anyway. The wiring is still pretty decent, having been replaced recently (within the past 10-15 years, I think). But since it's going to be taken completely apart, I might as well replace those too, right? I found that I'll have to replace the break cables for the parking brake and the cable for the rear floor vents, which run off the engine's heat.

You may notice there are only 2 pedals: clutch and brake. The gas pedal fell off on the way home, and blew into the back seat. Need to fix that soon.

Also found a penny.

It takes going down to the bare metal to see how it'll look when you're finished. This project is more than worth it.

Yup... Need to figure out if it'll be cheaper to use 1/8 inch (3/16 if I can find it, 1/4 will be extremely heavy) or order actual floor pans. And it does need a new coat of paint. The stuff that's on it now is the original factory paint, but it's all oxidized and dusty. But for $900, I got a 1968 beetle that starts right up and runs great. Not bad for my first car.

Well... that's a title... o.o
Not sure if I should be disappointed or relieved now that the photo's loaded, really.
