Her maids had washed and dressed him, made his hair in order... and put him here. When we were carrying him, she was going nearby. holding his hand. And lied down on the grass beside the stretchers, still holding his hand.
Black hair tresses were mixed with grass stalks...
They lied together - hand in hand, head to head, like groom and bride in a wedlock bed. What a kind of wedding! The wedding Fritur was coming here for...

They look so calm as if sleeping. Somehow it still doesn't make me sad because I know they were given a second chance for the kind of life they wanted. Mandos is grim but not merciless.

I thought I must have, because I often come back just to gaze at this beautiful depiction of the two lovers, able to be together at least in death - or the afterlife.
Anyway it's gorgeous, and I simply love it. Thank you so much for sharing this with us - it's remarkable to come across such a beautiful, and tragic, work of art.
