While this image doesn't show you how to color a manga image, it teaches you what I go through for an individual panel.Take for instance, page 5 of the BSSM manga volume 1. This image of Usagi is just one of the five that I have to color. Sure, it's no walk in the park, but the end result is super rewarding!
The reason I'm showing this specific one is because of the difficult cleanup Usagi needed... Oh man. It took me an hour to remove all the darkness from her hair and face. I'm a perfectionist, it needed to be done. Anyway, hope this is interesting for all of you.

How do you color in the skin without messing up the colored lines?

I don't mean to be a bother, but how do you color the lines? Is there a specific tool you can use?

I think she used photoshop to get better lines, but paint tool sai is a whole lot easier. I recommend that program for lineart.

Unless Naoko's backgrounds are clean and easy to color, then by all means, I will not use my own. But on this image I used my own. I did for several others, too. You'll see when Act 1 comes out. ;]
