Description The Girl was
The Girl was 30 year old Scotch
Smooth and Sweet and
In-Toxic-ating
The promise of a good time in her smile
Though never inappropriate
Yet I drank deeply
The Girl was
The Girl was everything I thought I wanted
Because when I was with her
I wanted for nothing else
And why should I
She smiled for me
She laughed at my jokes
She tingled under my hand
The Girl was
The Girl was never a woman
Younger
Braver to smile
A brighter spring in her step
The Girl was
The Girl was Piping hot espresso
Leaving no aftertaste but that to be savored
And invigorating like a jumpkick to the heart
The Girl was
The Girl was everything.
Having gone without now for quite some time
Everything
Else

Pales in comparison

Which is too bad, really
Because for all the things
The Girl Was
The Girl Was
Not the real thing.

She couldn’t have been
Cause I’m still here.

So there.

That's very sad, but I like the accepting tone. I like how the narrator is able to move on after losing "the girl"

Touching. I fell this way too, sometimes.
