That as well as watermarks deter art thieves. I used to have my work at 1024 but a few nasties ruined it for all so I put them now at 750

Well, needless to say that I don't condone art thievery, but I also don't understand what damage could possibly be done? I admit I do this kind of thing strictly as a "hobby", so my livelihood doesn't depend on it. What exactly did those nasties do, and how did you find out about it, if you don't mind my asking? And as for the watermarks, I get your point, but I also find that sometimes they seriously distract from the quality of the image. Forgive me for this long blurb, if you will.

Well when I first posted my work larger and with no watermarks I found people were taking them and putting them up to sell and on wallpaper sites claiming them as their own. It was really stressful and annoying to have to get in contact and ask for photos to be taken down and proving they were mine etc. Now if I see my photos on other sites it's like advertising because it has my name and my watermark is noticable but at the same time doesn't distract from the overall image. So for me it's just not having to worry
Long blurb is fine. Truth be told I've thought about making my images 800px on here but I am really weird in the sense that I can't stand having all my images different sizes and would feel obligated to go back and update all my photos to 800px. It's a really strange thing of mine

That is indeed annoying. I'm not aware that anyone stole my photos (maybe they're not worth steeling, haha). But I'll think about adding an unobtrusive watermark. If I may be nosy, how did you find these perpetrators?

Well mainly google images and Tineye.

Thanks for the advice! I've checked on two of my images with tineye (which I wasn't aware of), and apparently nobody has stolen them yet. Don't know whether I have the time to do this for all of my images.

Yeah it's a pain. You can go to google images as well and put your username in and see if anything comes up
