Description
The idea for this piece started as a tribute to the giant tree that died in my backyard and the spirit that I imagined faded within it.

"This old spirit rose from the earth and began his final walk. With each step, his twisted and broken body began to break off and the journey ahead became lighter. He shed his characteristics one by one, his thoughts became clear, and there was no longer any sense of fear, just a warmth that we couldn't begin to understand. Eventually his entire body laid on the ground, abandoned and forgotten. The shell would become soil and a home for something new to grow. His spirit could be described as a glowing energy that started to ascend as there was no worldly possession to hold him down to earth. He became harder to see the higher he rose, could even be mistaken for a star. And before you knew it, he was gone."
