Description "Oh, H-hey, Lily," Severus sad softly to the red haired girl approaching him. She walked with a bounce in her step, a smile on her face, and a dazzling spark in her emerald eyes.

"Hi Sev! Aren't you excited for Saturday?" Snape shrugged, staring off over the lake as Lily sat down next to him.

"Not really," Lily pouted, collapsing dramatically against him. "I haven't got a date."

"Then go-"

"Do not mention that word." Severus snapped irritably. Lily's face pinked, but she giggled all the same.

"Sorry, it slipped my mind." The two fourth years smiled at one another. "Then why don't we go together?" Severus perked up, half ecstatic, half confused.

"You haven't already-"

"Oh no! I've been asked-"

"Of course," Snape interrupted with a cheeky smile.

"But I don't want to go with MacMillian or Potter."

"Potter asked you?" Lily nodded absent-mindedly. "Slimy little git." She laughed, punching the Slytherin's shoulder.

"Sev!" He smiled at Lily, catching her hand and pulling her into a hug.

"I'd be honored to be your date, Lily Evans."

-

Severus stood anxiously near the portrait of the Fat Lady. Finally, she swung open -interrupting her horrible singing- to reveal a formally dressed Lily.

The red head's usually straight hair was curled meticulously, but still seemed naturally messy; her eyes emphasized by long eyelashes and light color around the lids. The dress was slender, flowing silk along her body.

Severus felt almost insignificant next to the beauty, until his best friend replied to his stunned face.

"You look wonderful Sev!" She said with a smile in her eyes. He nodded hastily, cautiously wrapping an arm around her waist. He smiled, both goofily and proudly as she leaned into his embrace.

They walked into the dance a little later than most student; the Great hall had been rearranged and decorated to fir the cheery but still elegant Spring theme.

Immediately Lily brought Snape to the dance floor, amidst the other couples. Sev's breath caught in his throat as she brought them chest-to-chest, and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Lily! Are you okay with this? People might think," Snape swallowed his glee at the mere thought. "People might think we're a couple."

Lily giggled, her breath tickling his pale face.

"I wouldn't mind that." She said distractedly; not even noticing Snape's cherry red face.

-

"That was so much fun Sev! Way better than going alone!" Lily exclaimed as Severus walked her back to the Fat lady.

"Very much so," Snape replied with a soft smile.

The halls were amazingly uncrowned as Lily turned to bid Severus a good night.

"I had a really great time, Severus." Lily sighed with a smile.

"Me too," Lily smiled more, and leaned up on her toes, her heels clicking in her hand, and kissed Snape softly.

Severus' face flushed, but he timidly returned the kiss, until they simultaneously pulled back.

"G'night Sev," Lily bade.

"Night, Lily." Severus resisted the urge to grin until his best friend was deep within the common room. He turned happily on his heel, shooting a smirk at a dangerously shocker James Potter.

Harry really should have been Snape's son. No doubt about it.
