Description ECTOPLASM, a comics anthology printed by Twelfthgecko Press, will be handed out for FREE at MoCCA this year. :3 ECTOPLASM features:

Nina J. Franzen
Rebecca G.
Kiki Jones (duh)
Bo Ae Lee
Amy Lorenz
Dominique Martin
Sweetherring
Ed Sinthes
Slowphia
Jeremy Stein
Steve Yurko

Basically I got all these people together and asked them to draw me something creepy, and it's all being compiled into one minicomic anthology to SPREAD THE LOVE MAN.

This is the cover and I am hoping to print it in two layers -- the background and the skeleton under the ghost-blob will be the actual color cover, and then the ghost blob will be printed on transparent acetate and become a translucent overlay on top of the background. SO, if I can just afford like 200 sheets of acetate (lol NOT HAPPENING, maybe 100 tho), it will have the sexiest cover ever.

Oh well, either way, this has been super-fun and stay tuned for more news about ECTOPLASM and MoCCA. 8D

xoxo
Kiki

P.S. It will obviously not say "www.twelfthgecko.com" under the title, that's just there for the sake of the internets.

I drew all the lineart by hand but all the coloring is Photoshop. The translucency is achieved by turning the layer translucency down and the glowing font is regular font, with a white outline on another layer under it, with gaussian blur applied.

Afterall Kiki, WE'RE GONNA GO DOWN IN HISTORY! *most likely cause of something notorious like hijacking a school bus* XD.

Ha ha okay and for that matter, do you want me to put your dA in the book? Because you only sent me name and e-mail so I thought maybe you did want to be incognito... D8

HOLY CRAP, this is going to be the neatest book ever. Do you still need monetary help for printing costs? (I'm owed about $150 from work)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Twelfthgecko In reply to packstrap [2009-05-23 00:25:51 +0000 UTC]

Monetary help would be AWESOME, basically it's working like this:

I have this fancy-schmancy business class laser printer that does beautiful glossy printouts. The downside, reordering a set of laser cartridges for it costs 700 effing dollars. (Don't have a heart attack just yet, I don't need $700.) I have all fresh cartridges SO I will be getting as many copies as I can until those run out, I am optimistically hoping for 300 copies (that may be mad optimistic though, the book is looking to be about 44 pages) before the printer dies.

When the printer invariably runs out of "ink" (or magic laser beams, however it makes prints), I am going to take whatever money I have and make more copies at a Kinko's or something. SO, that is where money from you guys would be helpful. Luckily almost all the work is black and white, so that should make for cheaper copies.

Basically I have to put the book together and see how many my printer will spit out. I'll also make a .pdf or something if any of you guys want to print some copies for yourselves. SO, yes, donations would be awesome, I was asking for $10 - $20 but if you want to give more that would be excellent also.

Ha ha ha okay SORRY I WROTE A NOVEL, I just wanted to explain how and where and when your money would be used if you want to pitch in. 8D;;;

Alright, sounds good. Do you have a paypal?

(And novels are fine, don't worry.)

Twelfthgecko In reply to packstrap [2009-05-23 17:44:54 +0000 UTC]

I have paypal but it's not set up to take money yet...is PayPal best for you? Because I can go figure it out if that's the best for you D8

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

packstrap In reply to Twelfthgecko [2009-05-23 22:20:41 +0000 UTC]

Actually, the easiest way would probably be money order, but I don't know how fast the mail system is. Paypal is the next best thing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Twelfthgecko In reply to packstrap [2009-05-24 00:09:49 +0000 UTC]

Money order is okay by me. I think it would probably only take a few days since you're in NJ and I'm in CT. So if you'd rather do M.O., let me know and I will note you my address~

QuazyInk In reply to Twelfthgecko [2009-05-23 00:47:12 +0000 UTC]

Are you going to sell these online later on, so your other fans can order them? or is this just a one time deal... =[ I'll be uber-sad if it is...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Twelfthgecko In reply to QuazyInk [2009-05-23 00:51:54 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately I think we will end up giving away all the copies during the convention, BUT I might be able to print more of them afterwards. I don't want to sell them for money because too many different people worked on it and I think it would be difficult to fairly split up any money made from them. So, selling them online would be tricky but I might be able to mail them out for free...maybe?

I can always make prints of my pages that are in it, though, there's actually only three pages of mine plus the cover in the whole book, the rest are by other people.
