Description
So, I saw Frozen yesterday. I think I’ll be among the few who aren’t all over it. I actually went to see it with a really bad opinion. Unfortunately, for me, every trailer and teaser kept convincing me more and more that this would be a horrible movie. But everyone who saw it loved it so much, I got curious.
So I saw it, and it was better than what I expected. I was especially pleasantly surprised by the characters personality. None was like I expected them to be (even Olaf, which made me face palm extremely hard the first time I saw the teaser). I didn’t think it was the greatest movie of all time, but it was nice.
My favourite scene was Elsa’s song. Here I must admit, everything about it was extremely beautiful, be it the music, the animation, or just the general setting. And Idina Menzel has such an incredible voice. I’ve been looping the song all day.
So this will be my contribution to the Frozen fandom~

I'll admit, the one thing that made this movie was its concept art, animation and music. The plot was solid, but kinda overdone, and kinda simple. It wasn't bad, but it isn't exactly great either. I think what makes me feel sad about this movie is its overwhelming potential. These characters, these kingdoms, the politics of these kingdoms. There was definitely more room for development for all of these things.

One thing you are totally right though is that it had so much potential. It could have been so good, but there were to much bad decisions... The story should have concentrate on Elsa. Anyway, that was my little analysis after watching it twice. I'm not very forgiving here... I think I wouldn't mind that much if people weren't praising it so much, saying it's the best Disney movie in history :\

Totally agree with what you said in the description. People kept asking me what I thought of the movie, and it was hard to explain it to people who expected me to say that I either loved or hated it...
Also, I love how your artwork shows the calmer, more graceful side of Elsa.

I wish the story was more about Elsa. It should have been about Elsa actually, I don't really care about Anna's love interests, I wanted to learn about Elsa's story, where those powers come from, and more character development... I rewatched it recently and ended up frustrated in the end, ahah

I could get behind a movie about Elsa! I feel like Disney really didn't spend as much time or thought on the majority of the movie like they should have... The film felt rushed to me, and as you say, I think there could/should have been more explanation behind Elsa's powers and why she had them. I get that Anna was the intended heroine, but I feel like it was a shared role with Elsa.

I agree with you about how Frozen's a bit overrated, I'd waited about a year and a half for Frozen to come out and when I finally saw it I really loved it but after watching it again I realized this movie's a little above a 'meh' I feel like it's another 'The Lion King,' how everyone loves it but I feel like it's just overrated. I don't think it deserved the Oscar for best animated movie, I'm still a little upset that 'The Wind Rises' lost to Frozen.

I didn't think the Lion King was overrated, but Frozen sure was, and it sure didn't deserve that oscar in my opinion. Seriously, I rewatched Frozen, and watched Tangled right after, and just "omg Disney, what happened". It's like they didn't care about quality and just wanted to make a big princess movie but there's just so much holes in that story. And don't get me started on the visual. I have yet to see The Wind Rises though, but my friends loved it so I have to see that soon~

Tangled is WAY better! Instead of focusing on the story like Tangled, I felt like Frozen spent too much time on the jokes between Anna, Kristoff, and Olaf while going to Elsa's castle and back to Arendelle.... which makes up most of the movie, but I still have hope for some of their upcoming films (Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Giants, Moana, etc.). I think I would have liked Frozen better if they went for some of the earlier story ideas where Elsa was a villain or an antihero being manipulated by a villain, or a Snow Queen that shuts everyone out until a certain man melts her heart, all were candidates for the story for Frozen, but they changed the story so much I'm assuming that the reason the story had so many plot holes is that they were rushing to meet the promised release date.
And I loved The Wind Rises because not only was it visually stunning, but it had a great story line, if it had not been an animation I would have loved it because it's got such a beautifully bittersweet story about how war can twist a beautiful dream into the tools for killing and a story about the main character falling in love with a girl trying to fight a disease.

I've heard waaaay to much praise (and fanart) for the movie, and when it finally won an award, I had to watch it!
Now, don't get me wrong, it was still good! But I didn't get the wow factor as much as I thought it would.
I don't know, I feel like more could have happened with the story. It just seemed to happen, then it was over.

Yeah no, I actually got to watch it a second time and spent the whole movie complaining, so I'm officially not watching that again. There is indeed way too much stuff missing with the story, or that just don't make any sense, or that they just don't explain at all. I was a bit mad when it won an award (but I was just frustrated when I read that it did because half the judges didn't vote, and the other vote for Frozen either because they didn't care enough to watch the other movies or only because they thought "hey, that's Disney, must be the best").

Nothing stood out that was too great or too bad for the movie to get stuck in my head. Just another Disney movie I guess?

You are quite right actually, I should just be neutral. "Just another Disney movie" describes it well. I guess I sometimes gets too mad because of all the praise it gets when I think it doesn't deserve that much...
And you don't have to feel guilty, ahaha. It was in an article that went around a lot after the oscars, but it's possible you just didn't see it, there's no problem with that

Ahah well I'd say the queen during the Let it Go song, because that's about the only character development you get in the entire movie. And then she just goes back the way she was at the beginning and doesn't let it go anymore.

Ah no, don't worry, me and my friends didn't like it that much either (and were kind of mad while watching the Oscars). But hey, it still has some good points. Which for me, are all in Elsa's song. Thank you~

Yeah it was indeed. Though I must admit, for a lot of various reasons, I still think it wasn't a good movie and was a big step back from Disney

In some ways I liked it, it was better than Tangled. I like it how they aren't over the top girly, but now they want them to be over the top stupid & strange.
