Why is it that I'm more satisfied with this piece of crap sketch than I am with anything I've done recently?

Maybe it's the rawness of it.

Ugh, why do I always do so well at drawing Itachi when things are like this?

i love it i love it i love it i love it! usually raw sketches tend to draw more my attention, for example, i donΒ΄t like overdetailed things with 7645876234587235693478564501965'045 colors on them. thatΒ΄s why i like the manga, and monochromatic (or bichromatic) scales in drawings <3
