In order to celebrate Mother's Day, Ivo Hugh who is seems to be mentally the youngest of all the narrow gauge engines wanted to give flowers to Madge & Elizabeth for Mother's Day since they are seen as motherly figures by him and his fellow narrow gauge engines and his act of kindness on behalf of all the narrow gauge engines is much appreciated.Related content

I definitely agree with Madge and Elizabeth being motherly figures to the likes of Ivo Hugh at the very least.

I don't see anything wrong with Madge and Elizabeth being motherly figures to all the narrow gauge engines, even the older ones like Skarloey, Rheneas and Duke since nobody is ever too old to have a motherly figure in their life in my opinion.

That's just your opinion. The only reason Madge was even a motherly figure to the likes of Skarloey and Rheneas was because Skarloey and Rheneas were completely out of character during the era Madge appeared in, if Skarloey and Rheneas were in character I could've seen their interaction with Madge being more similar to the interactions between Stephen and Millie (Though with not that big of a age gap).
Though I do see Madge being a motherly figure to the other Narrow Gauge engines like Luke, Ivo Hugh, Sir Handel, Peter Sam, Duncan etc.

There's nothing wrong with Madge acting as motherly figure to Skarloey and Rheneas even if they acted like they did in season 4 because like I said, nobody is too old to have motherly figure in their life and it's also totally possible for a female character to act as a motherly figure to someone who is older than them.

I'm not saying I don't see Madge having a familial bond with Skarloey and Rheneas (I personally see her as a little sister to Skarloey and Rheneas at the very least).

She doesn't act like a little sister at all though, maybe a big sister or aunt but not a little sister. Madge really comes across as an old soul type, I could see her having an old fashioned lifestyle and way of thinking despite not being very old physically.

Just because I see her as a little sister to Skarloey and Rheneas doesn't mean I see that being the case for towards others nor do I even see her as young at all, in fact I agree that she does seem like one of the more mentally older females in the show which is great if you ask me.
To be honest Madge is a character I'd love to see come back because she has a lot of great story potential.

Madge is alright and she does have some potential but I think Elizabeth has far more potential and she's also one of my favorite female TTTE characters, it sucks that alot of people just see her as ill-tempered and mean when in reality, she's just one of the few female characters that sees through everyone's crap and isn't shy about calling people out accordingly. I suppose Elizabeth not being very popular isn't surprising given the fandom's tendency to gravitate towards female character that have little to offer apart from a pretty face.
