I started off doing minor editing to the flower, and then I decided I didn't like the background. I kept changing it, and then it ended up like this . But, I like it anyhow, and I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Holiday .

Ahahahaha

I got some make your own canvas kind of kit, and I did my latest clouded leo pic on it, it looks AMAZING. I do do do do love it. I might start doing them for sale on my website now. Going to look at pricing at things then decide. I'm hoping to make some more money from it all so that I can go on safari. Yay yay yay

How was your Christmas, get anything nice?

Ohhh, that sounds amazing!! You must upload it!!! I think they would probably sell, but I can't be sure until I see it *hint* lol.
What safari?

Mine was pretty good ^.^. I got a bunch of little stuff and then I got a 16GB memory card for my camera, which beats the 1GB I had before . Now I can take 3700ish pictures .
Oh, and I got myself and my sister a sub lol.

I'll get a picture of it tomorrow or something

ANY safari, I've always wanted to go on safari, it would be the best thing ever, and I think it would help my "portfolio" if i had some real wild pictures. I'd love to go on safari to see tigers, but then if you go to Africa you can see lions leopards and cheetah, which would be amazing to see all 3 wild tough choice.. But there is an AMAZING place you can go ( which is where *catman-suha takes his snow shots ) Which is about £3000 - [link] It would be the best experience ever though.

Ooo 16GB I think you might have beat me now Yay you took the sub advise

Alrighty. I'll be looking for it .

Ah, okay! I thought you already had one in mind . It probably would help your portfolio a bit because I think you could get more "action" shots in the wild or more natural looking backgrounds.

Wow!! That is a lot of money. You better start advertising your work like crazy!!! It looks amazing .

I was excited . You still have the better camera though . OH! My sister got a camera for Christmas . Now she doesn't have to borrow mine .
Yep, I took your sub advice lol. I'm going to be here for over another year now ^.^. I noticed you're up to 16 months now haha.

Alannah-Hawker In reply to TwistedHearts [2010-01-10 15:01:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah exactly, plus if I got a job doing it, I would be taking photos of animals int the wild, so to show I've had experience in it would really help.

Haha, I think doing Canvas' will help. The only thing now is, to do the 12x15" canvas I'd need to buy an A3 printer. I think it would be a good investment but would cost £200 and make a big dent in my savings.. So I only want to do it if it kind of pays it's self after a while ( if that makes sense )

Cool, now you just need a DSLR Yeah someone bought me a sub for xmas, how nice hey Shame they didn't leave a name

TwistedHearts In reply to Alannah-Hawker [2010-01-12 03:50:38 +0000 UTC]

I really do hope you get a job like that! It would be an frickin' amazing blast!!

Hmm, well, before you sell any, I say you should scan or take a picture of them before you sell them. That way if they do sell well, you'll still have copies of the originals . If you can make a profit off them after buying the A3 printer, like you said.

Ha, I definitely do need a DSLR. For my photography class... I'm not allowed to use a digital camera. So after looking long and hard for a manual camera (my teacher said it had to be old and dusty), my mom remembered that my dad still had his old camera. So, I'm going to be using it for my photography class, and I'm going to be messing with chemicals and developing my pictures. It's going to be a heck of money <.<. I'm tempted to drop the course and just buy the DSLR lol. But, I have to take the course because it's required, so that's not really an option .

Merry Christmas, Alannah .

Haha, wouldn't it just! I'd be like "lets fly to America next!" and pop in and visit lol

Hmm, I'm not sure whether to do the bigger size now, I think it would sell, but my mum told me to look at safaris (so she's going to take me!!!!) so I need to keep my money for that.. so I don't know if I can afford the printer.. AH! & I want to go on a good safari, not the cheapest available, if that makes sense?

OH Your doing film photography then! I did that in my first year of college, I could have sent you mine OH GOD THAT REMINDS ME, I can totally sell that on Ebay and get some money for the safari! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

lol, I think you'd like Florida if you could get over the heat. And if you didn't visit Florida, Washington is so beautiful. I've seen pictures, and I'm like dieinggg to go there, even though it's like... on the complete opposite side of the country XD. It's be a good 5 day drive . There's a zoo in Texas that's really amazing too, I think you would love it! I went when I was younger, and they had komodo dragons.
Someone said that it would take 2 days to look at everything or something like that. Just imagine if you were taking pictures! -You'd need a bigger memory card for your camera and a bigger hard drive for your computer .

You know what you could do? You could keep doing them (since you have the supplies already, right?), but save selling them for after you get the money for the safari. That way you can get money after the safari as well!
And of course you'd want a good safari! I mean, it would be a pretty crappy safari if you spent money to go get shots of animals and then saw no animals or, instead, got eaten by them because lack of protection, equipment, and competency of your tour guide .

Yep, I'm doing film . It's a bit annoying because I can't seem to get the exposures right. I should take a picture of my 2 new cameras and show you .

If it's in good condition, you could probably get a good $100 out of it . How close are you to safari?? It's a good sign that your mummy is going to take you!!

Alannah-Hawker In reply to TwistedHearts [2010-01-22 21:09:11 +0000 UTC]

I'm not really interested in visiting towns and stuff, I get bored easily of that kind of thing I'm sure I'd like the zoos though I've almost run out of memory.. A few more zoo trips and POW I'll be out of room

I think I might put the two sizes I can do for sale, then wait till after the safari to get a bigger printer and sell the larger canvas...

Me and my mum have been talking about it, she's got £900 saved up (but she'll ask my dad for money towards it lol) and I've got £750 but should have an extra £100 by may in pocket money, then May is my 18th Birthday so I'm hoping to get a lot of money then too, which should give me lots of money for Safari. We found this place - [link] Then this date, "Nakuru, Masai Mara and Migration, 26 June till 06 July. 10 nights." Averages £1,500 but we're not sure if that included flights, so I emailed them to see. If flights included we'll book it, if not I'm not sure what's happening.

Ha, it helps though because once you get the hang of it you know how it works then you'll be fine with a DSLR

A lot of towns are either really super nice or really really bad . There's not much to look at unless you go to one of the older cities with a zoo or gulfarium nearby X).
Oh dear... you really need to find more space X). I'd hate for you to start deleting goodies .

OHHHHH, I thought you didn't have much of a printer at all X). The two sizes you can do would definitely help out with saving up money.

YAY!!! I'm glad your mom is helping you out, and I hope your dad pitches in too. I'm crossing my fingers! It looks utterly amazing
I don't want to burst your bubble, but at the bottom of this page [link] it says "* Fully inclusive cost of safari (excluding flights)" I hope you get a different answer from him .

Well, at the moment I'm doing pinhole camera stuff. Haven't even touched the real camera . I think that's why I'm having a terrible time with this exposure stuff... But, I hope it definitely helps out with the DSLR... and if not - I can take pretty much unlimited pictures until I get it right. Heck, that's what I did with the camera I have now X).

Alannah-Hawker In reply to TwistedHearts [2010-01-26 00:05:25 +0000 UTC]

I wont delete animal photos, I'll may delete blurred things that really have no use. Otherwise it will be software and photos of other stuff

My printer is okay, it EATS ink so much though So if I get a new one I might save in ink and print bigger.

Yeah I got an answer, it's confusing because there is an "internal" flight too which is the only flight it mentions on the page. Flights aren't included though, so all in all it would be £2000, WAY too much

Ha, pinhole was funny, we paired up in class to do it and me and my friend where the only ones to get nothing I guess it does help, because you have to judge timing with the pinhole, so it helps with the DSLR (even though it tells you if you have enough light)

TwistedHearts In reply to Alannah-Hawker [2010-01-27 04:35:29 +0000 UTC]

Ah, okay! That's a relief XD.

Oh really? It eats the ink? Maybe there's a loose screw in there giving out too much ink? You might be able to do that in the meantime.

Ugh... Maybe if your dad pitch in 400 English monies? (My computer won't do the sign XD)

I finally started getting some decent shots today. Which is good because we're looking at everybody's on Thursday for a grade .
You guys didn't get anything? XD Were they all white or all black? The timing is a real pain in the rear. It doesn't help I don't know where I'm "aiming" my camera o.O;. It's frustrating .

Alannah-Hawker In reply to TwistedHearts [2010-01-30 00:54:01 +0000 UTC]

Nah there isn't, it just uses it easily.. annoying really.

Ha, 400GBP, hmm, I think that would count as "birthday" money though. I don't know, my mum hasn't even told him about it yet, she keeps saying she will.

I'm sure you'll get a good grade

Nothing at all I think it had like one little line on it hahaha, we got a mix of all black and all white I tihnk.. But in the end we got a picture and it looked like a real photo and everyone thought we cheated
You get used to it, you don't have to do it for long either.. We would lie on the floor and look then place the little box
