It looks like spray paint on canvas... I started mine on canvas but it works better on glossy poster board 3$ walmart for a pack of 10?

This has a peaceful 'Zen' quality to it... Not dark at all.. except literally...

Try for natural light and a tripod ? Interior light tends to give a yellowy tinge ( or make sure you white balance first, if you have the option ) .

Hmm...I'm not sure then. I remember having to photograph some of my big canvases when I was in my artist residence years ago, and it was a pain in the A. You could never get the lens exactly perpendicular to the canvas so there was always distortion as well ( we had nothing as sophisticated as nails in the wall there... )

take the pic outside, no flash, in the shade. also, you want to have the pic straight and take the picture on the same level, instead of tilting the camera or the painting.
If you don't want to do it outside, do it in a brightly lit room with the light above but not shining directly on it--like propped up against one of those tall floor lamps-- and another lamp with a shade across the room.
flourescents with opaque covers can cut glare as well.
I'm no professional photog, but that's what I do when I take pics of my friend's artwork, and it works well. No glare, and no distorted view caused by angles. Don't forget you can also straighten out a SLIGHTLY tilted object in a photo with minimal distortion in photoshop.

no, that's the sound women (most, anyway LOL) make when imagining anything painful hasppening to certain, sensitive pointy body parts.
