LAMBOTHON XIV: 199? early Canto design

Well, according to the site Lambocars, this was an early design sketch for the Canto - the planned Diablo successor. It looks very Calà-like to me, though some more Canto-like parts can be seen on the back half - such as the huge intakes above the rear wheels.
What confuses me is that the original sketch of this is dated '99, when the Canto came out in '98... so how can this have been an early idea for the Canto, before the final design of the Canto was made, if the drawing was made after?
Somebody must have made a mistake somewhere... either way, it's a cool design.
