Gorgeous kitty. I've been trying to work out what breeds my moggie is as I've only seen his mother, a small tortoiseshell british shorthair but your cat is literally the ONLY one I've see with the same coat. The brown to tan pale bits, the little white hairs mixed in (on the tail) the waviness on the underside, the mixture of fur that is more sleek on top and more like cotton candy on the undercoat etc. Is your kitty 100% a registered Turkish angora? because so many others I've seen are sleek all over wish a narrower face. But your kitty is so like mine it's unreal, and i've been looking at ALOT of picture of black longhaired cats lol. His overall body shape when sitting and even the pale underside to that neck ruff.. So weird.

No he isn't pure.
But I believe he does have Angora in him (from his mothers side I think)~
This is his winter coat, but in summer he drops the "poofy-ness" on his body and keeps the fluffy tail.
His coat has gotten lighter (or as you put it "redder") as he's aged-- but apparently the sun can also "bleach" black fur on animals too.
You'll especially notice it in horses, cows, goats etc because they're in the sun all day but you can see it in other animals too.
I think cat breeders generally keep there cats inside, and/or only have limited or filtered sun (they have cat runs, enclosures etc), so you wouldn't notice it as much in a show cat perhaps?
