EDIT: So in honor of the return of SU, I thought I'd properly color this and essentially give Seraphinite a ref of sorts, anyways, I'm very proud of this, and I'm glad I got it done~ ;D

{{This is just a concept doodle/sketch of how Seraphinite looked back on Homeworld. Also, since the last time you saw her, her story has undergone some changes and tweaks, and I also changed her gem placement from her left wrist to the center of her back for development reasons. 8U
But anyways, as for her background, she was originally an aristocratic gem that was very highly regarded in Blue Diamond's court. She was known to be a powerful gem back then as well, yet she had no desire to involve herself in conflict nor any sort of violence. However, despite this she was not a pacifist. She was well aware that conflict can sometimes be unavoidable and on some occasions a "necessary evil". Even though she was an aristocratic gem, she was not unfamiliar with the rules of war and conflict, and was fairly proficient in combat as well. Though not many knew this, since she kept this fact a secret from most, knowing that it was greatly frowned upon.
She also cared deeply for her subordinates, and wanted them to be able to protect themselves in times of danger. So her servants became her students, and taught them how to fight in secret. Three of her most devoted students just so happened to be Vesuvianite (knight), Kyanite (handmaiden), and Star Ruby (guard). While they were tasked with protecting and serving their mistress, Seraphinite was usually the one protecting them instead.
She would often butt heads with Serpentine, her "sister" and rival, and also one of the heads of Yellow Diamond's military forces in charge of training soldier gems. Seraphinite often didn't approve of Serpentine's methods of "training", knowing of her rather abusive nature. Her disdain however, soon turned to hatred when Serpentine managed to take Kyanite to train as a soldier when she and Star Ruby displayed their anomaly-like geode abilities.
Despite her high status and power in gem society, Seraphinite overall was not happy with her current position, and greatly disliked the idea of colonizing other planets that were filled with life. Earth, was no exception.When the great gem rebellion occurred, she made the difficult decision to take her chance and leave the Diamond Authority and her title all behind and fight against her own kind for the planet, with Star Ruby (now having been modified for proper combat), and Vesuvianite fighting at her side.
However, Seraphinite's forces were thwarted by Serpentine, having turned the once gentle, and empathetic Kyanite into a cold ruthless killer, along with other gems she has enhanced assisting her in the endeavor. This was what ultimately resulted in Star Ruby being imprisoned in ice, Vesuvianite becoming cracked and disabled, and Seraphinite's imminent capture and imprisonment.
As her punishment for her betrayal, she was imprisoned by Homeworld and used as a power source instead of being shattered, but was able to break free several millennia later and escape to earth, where she now resides, living in hiding as a rogue gem, and also helping those on this planet when she can. She may usually come off to be a fairly weak gem without any sort of special abilities, but in reality, she hides them, which she uses to her advantage to hide her true identity from others.
That's all I got so far, I'll reveal more when I draw more of her. XP}}
