Description These plush are all from the original movie release of The Lion King. I never knew that they existed until this year (so I am guessing that they were mainly sold in more independent toy shops, which I rarely visited as a child, not big box stores). These have become some of my favorite Lion King plush of all time. They are very well made and movie-accurate. Apparently they originally retailed for around $40 USD, which was quite a lot for a plush of this size in the 90s.

Your Simba looks great! I've seen a few of these on eBay, but most had the derp face. Yours looks regal, and he appears to be in excellent condition. Your Nala looks great, too.

I agree about Simba. He's so hard to find with a cute face; if only Applause had just a little better quality control on eye placement--these plush are very high quality otherwise.

There was another Simba I was considering getting at the same time (they were both the same price) that still had all of his tags. The one I got of course is missing the paper tag, but he also has a small discoloration on his back. However, the faces... to me, non-derp face counts for a lot in a plush, lol.

I know, you'd think Applause would have done a better job, especially given the price they sold these for. :/

I don't blame you. I'd choose non-derp faces over tags any day. The hang tag is nice, but it's not that important to me, to be honest. The face is the most important part of a plush, for sure.

I love the build quality of these, too.

The Applause Simba and Nala are fairly often on Ebay. I believe there are still a few listings right now.
