I was watching T.V and seen a african woman with a wrap on her head and i thought to myself she is absolutly gorgeous. Then when i thought about it, i think all african woman i see, on t.v, walking around, at school or at work, that wear those head wraps are just beautiful. I really like the way they look and it really emphasizes the natural beauty of their face. And when their really colorful i think it makes their skin just pop. So i painted this. I used no reference what so ever for this other than i see beautiful black women everywhere so im blessed with my memory to work from.Hope you guys enjoy. Went for a semi-realistic look. Painted it tonal with black and white then added color afterwards.

This is so beautiful and divine! I love it, and your description of how you thought of it. I feel the same way when I see many of them in Africa and everywhere.
And I HAVE to point out her expression, it's like a mix of confidence, yet sadness; I think it really represents the black woman of today and how they so often feel and are treated. A testament to it.

Due to the high levels of "sheer, concentrated, awesome" contained in this picture, I'm actually having quite a difficult time trying to be articulate, when it comes to expressing just how much I like this!

Thanks Matt, Glad you like the color. i wanted to go a bit muted on this one and let her stand out and not the color over power her. And yea im a sucker for making the eyes the main attraction

oh is it really that dark? maybe i could try lightening it up. My monitor is crazy super, i can see the difference between the darkest colors and keep forgetting other monitors arnt the same

My monitor's just a really crappy LCD, so darker colours end up getting merged together for me xP
