Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

A superpowered woman who can fly and has black wings on her uniform. Even if "Blackbird" is a "common" name - I think it described everything with this character.

I like the flying effect behind her. She looks fierce, like she has set her eyes on an unsuspecting target. And the sky background looks great.

Her mask/goggles look believable - they would protect her eyes when she flies with high speed - I doubt she is a "Kara Zor-El". And they would have a HUD similar to Arkham Batman's detective vision.

I've never understood shiny costumes and high heels, but hey! This is superhero fantasy after all.

Great work as always, Tyler.

Very nice!!!

Do you have more info about this lovely villainous?

Also what would you classify your creations under? (what universe?)

What universe...   none, any, or whatever.  I am not a fan of the modern Marvel or DC universes.  The closest thing to a universe that I follow is WhiteOwl's Queen City.  She is a nice lady, but a lot of the contributors seem stuck on derivative characters or boobie pics.

More information or the character...  Nothing fully developed that I would share.  She just a interesting looking villain.

Great piece of super heroine art.  I like the way the mask gives her nose the appearance of a beak.  Generally awesome costume.  Good thing she flies; mixing it up with the opposition wearing those heels might be a bit difficult.  Speaking of flying - what other powers does she have and is there a back story on the young lady?

To be honest, when I modeled the mask I thought the same thing and it drove the look of the character.  Usually it is story, powers, and then look.  So I fell into the character backwards.

So far flight, super-speed in flight, and stealth (invisibility?) are the main powers.  Maybe enough strength to handle the strain of flight.  I don't want the super cosmic power level character or one that is a very apparent rip-off of a published character.  I have pondered a ranged attack but not sure what as a sonic attack is over done for bird themed characters.  One thing I had in mind for a hero is something like a field that absorbs and redirects forms of energy around them into arm-wings.  This would give flight, a protective field, and a physical attack by sweeping the wings across something.  Imagine a wide, thin stream of directed energy forming something like a laser.  With concentration, the field could be directed as a single beam for ranged attack.  This is all under mental debate on how original and if it copies the concept of other characters.

Oh, before I forget, she does the have the incredible superpower that allows any super heroine or villain to perform any physical feat equally well no matter what type of footwear they have on.  I created this power simply to avoid the whole "can't do it wearing heals" argument.

I haven't much of a backstory so far.

Again Bird? Are you bad or good character?

As it is, I was thinking villain, but as with all characters in comics, today's bad guy is tomorrows good guy.

It's amazing how many other winged superheros I run across also named Blackbird.  Most of whom are female.  it's weird.

True, true.  Just funny how many times I've run across them.

I don't know.  I actually wanted to use Raven, but that is such a iconic character from DC I skipped it.  Then there is Crow, but after the movies, comics, and it didn't seem to fit a female character.  Blackbird was suggested and other than a minor character in Marvel comics, it didn't seem a well known character in comics.  I thought ok... what would the powers be?   That led me to think of the SR-71, high speed and stealth.  I thought.. ok that fits the general look of her.

That is about as far as I got with the character.  I suppose I could change it to something like Corvus or Corax.  Then I would have folks going what does that mean or thinking she has to do something with video games.  I could do a bit more research and look for other languages and what they call birds that are black.  It gets hard trying to find something original with almost 80 years of comic books and such.

I am not fussing at you.  Just thinking with my fingers.

Naaaaah it's fine!  Not trying to cause a fuss either or make you change the character's name.  I'm just amused how many other Blackbirds I run across with the majority of them being female.  I think I've run across one other besides mine that was male.  Just wondering what it is about the name that seems to be intrinsically female?

I think bird has a softer connotation that lends itself to be feminine.  The sounds used in saying the word tends to flow from the front of the mouth.  Hawk, falcon, and eagle have sounds deep in the throat, hard, and choppy.  Tends to be like a grunt in a way.  Tends to be more masculine.

What's funny is I also have a character called "Falcon" that's female.  So I guess I'm just going against all the conventions!

Nothing wrong with that.  Sometimes it is good to go against the grain.
