Description It’s been an interesting few months. The most unlikely event was being accused of being involved in a plot to disrupt the sales of a company. My wife couldn’t stop laughing when I told her saying she couldn’t get me to do laundry much less attacking a company! All in all it I thought the whole affair was rather juvenile and still can’t figure what I ever did to be accused.

On a better note, I am winding down with Daz Studio and switching over to Poser. This is likely to be one of the last pictures I am going to be doing in DS.

I enjoyed the comments on comic book characters here. An online friend got me into reading the new Batwoman and Catwoman. I find the art for Batwoman all right but the story is more complicated than a Russian novel with different times and different points of view. Catwoman is more my style as I enjoy good crime fiction, (I was reading the Parker novels as they were being published), and the art is good but I am going to put down as writer hyperbole of the episode where she supposedly has broken ribs and is doing backflips and fighting fiercely. Obviously the writer has never experience broken ribs. Coughing or sneezing is agony and if you are going to write this stuff - RESEARCH!

As always your art is wonderful.

Wondy and Babs are specially good. Great work on the costumes and textures.

I find poser 2012 a lot more friendlier then Daz 4. I must commend you though in producing this from Daz.

I think it is what someone is used too. DS had an interface similar to programs I used for work and the layout was easy for me to find things in. I am far from being good but any program is able to create some amazing things if the user knows how to use what is available in it to the best effect.

Yea, also all of my manuals are in English. I usually reach my tolerance level when trying to translate, It it wasn't for google, I'd be up a creek without a paddle.

I am not overly fond of Catwoman, I liked her better in the purple suit. WW and BG are my favorites, but I don't think DC or really anyone these days has any writers that can handle either character. At least none that can develop a good story line in the 5 seconds between the ultimate multi-verse changing never to be topped epic event and the next ultimate multi-verse changing never to be topped epic event that keeps occuring every month. After this newest malfuntion brought to us by Lee & Dodo, I dropped all the DC titles I was reading and am not going to pick up any for a long while.

Aaw that's a real shame. I actually agree with much of what you've said, I hate all the overblown year long crossovers and megaevents, but the new revamp has left me pleasantly surprised Simone's Batgirl has been absolutely fabulous (though that was a sure thing really) and Azzarello's new Wonder Woman actually feels like... well, Wonder Woman! I've not found that true since DC foolishly yanked Rucka off the book.

Reviews I have been seeing have not been good for WW. I will wait a year to see if this is DC version of hero reborn. I have feeling this is all just another lead in to an all changing event that nullifies everything that has happened before.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Okay, your reasoning is totally understandable, I do the same thing usually. But what reviews have you seen that are bad for WW?! Her comics is one of the highest selling and best reviewed of the new launch, its been counted amongst the "Top four" of the new comics alongside Action Comics, Animal Man and Batman!
She's not had reviews or sales this good since the Rucka-era, and with good reason IMO. The past Few years Wonder Woman has been pretty lousy, Gail Simone's run had some good points, but it rose and fell more than the ocean tide; the new runs actually DOUBLED the population on ComicBookResources.com's WW forum. It's definitely a good time to be a Wonder Woman fan!

Well, okay, one amendment... It's a good time to be a WW fan if you enjoy Wonder Woman being the traditional "Warrior-Born" amazon. The DCnU Diana is a far more confident upfront protector of the people, she has no qualms with saying something like "If you want her, you have to go through me, and you WON'T go through me." Best part is, she can really put her money where her mouth is now. She's gotten some great showings in the few comics she's been in so far, from taking on an entire parademon legion on her own (and smiling while she does it!) in JLA to leveling a rival in one punch in her own comic. The Amazon is riding high at the moment.

A lot of my information comes through a close friend that owns a comic books store and listening to discussions with longtime collectors and other store owners. I do not trust the most the online comic sites as they seem to be more concerned with sucking up to the comic companies. General feeling that I have seen is that as the new wears off, things will be back to where they were if not worse.
My personal opinion is that a female main character is hard for most writers and she either ends up being uber-attitude-chick, a lesbian, or super millie-the-model-in-love. Something I find really sad because some of my favorite characters are WW, Power Girl, and Bat Girl. I don’t think that the writers of today are talented enough to write a story that is interesting without the character being obnoxious while keeping her a woman. WW is twice as difficult because she is so iconic and tied to Greek mythology. Also unlike the big name male characters, she doesn’t have an equally iconic villain associated with her. Say Bat Man or Superman to the average person and they can say Joker and Luthor. WW doesn’t have that.
I don’t mind a female character that is tough, smart, and able to kick-butt. If anything it makes her more interesting. I don’t have an opinion on Rucka’s run as during that time I was not able to collect much at that time. I don’t think Gail Simone could have been much better if there had not been the constant story interruptions cause by the super mega ultra events that would forever change the universe. In my opinion that is probably one of the biggest problems the industry has. The wizards of smart have an uber-event that increases sales short term but drives off the dedicated reader because it makes it impossible to develop a continuing storyline, so they have another uber-event that has short term gains and drives off more dedicated readers. The reboot is just the next and biggest uber-event yet. After it runs it course another uber-event with change everything back and nothing will have really changed.

Well I can certainly understand that premise. I'm not big on the writing of today myself, I'm especially sick of seeing writers of serialized comic series draw there stories out for TWELVE ISSUES.
I mean come on, if I want a long story there are some EXCELLENT novels out there that put both the story and characterization in a comic to absolute shame, I read a comic book for quick, enjoyable entertainment. The moment I know someone's story is going to last more than four issues I drop it, just took Scott Snyder's Batman off my pull list yesterday because I found out this first arc (which has already been slow and tedious) is supposed to last 9 more issues.
The hatred of uber-events is another one I'd absolutely agree on, hell I didn't even like them way back when they first began. Crisis on Infinite Earths was horrible, and everything that's come after it has just perpetuated a horrendous history of terrible crossover events that tries to pull all the biggest characters together and does a lousy job at it.

Anyway, I won't hog up any more of the comment space, but if the new WW comes out in a Trade Paper Back I'd encourage you to give it a look next time you're at a comic shop, I think you'll end up pleasantly surprised.
I'd also encourage you to check out Rucka's run, it has a lot of what you're asking for... though on the other hand you might want to just skip it because DC's dingbat of a top man, DoDo Didio, yanked Rucka off the comic very abruptly mid-way through one of the most monumental Wonder Woman story arcs in history.

OH! One last thing, for an actually FUN female character check out the Trade Paperback "Power Girl: A New Beginning" by Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, and Amanda Conner. It's absolutely the best thing to come out of DC comics since the 80s, whenever somebody say "Power Girl's just a walking sex joke" I point them at this comic, even gave it to my own mother for Christmas. Just a great all around fun comic that prove some people in the industry still remember how to tell a good story with a fun character instead of all the melodrama and Michael Bay-esq adrenaline shock attempts.

Shutting up now, and nice talking to ya!

I don't care for trade paper backs. Since they became all the rage, the comic companies force the writers to do stories that will be contained in the covers of a trade. Comics for the lack of a better example is a Soap Opera in tights. The story line should build on what has come before pulling events from the past to continue the story. Trades disrupt the storyline, making them jerky and isolated from past events. Readers stop getting the monthly comic and will wait for the trade. Monthly readership goes down and the companies turn to the ultra-mega event to increase interest. The readership keep spiraling down.

Thanks for the advice on Power Girl, but I have the complete run until the 52 reboot malfunction started.

I think I can GUESS the details... but it's pointless to stir trouble.

I know where you're coming from. I've used Poser almost exclusively, and have added Daz for those few things it does better. DS4 is DEFINITELY a learning curve o its own. I would have thought that Daz has the better and easier to use rigging tools though.

As for the image, VERY nicely done, especially the retro intro-era Batgirl.

My wife has taken it on herself to approve all poses. Granted she sees things I don't but after working on something for 2-3 hours and having her point out that thus and so isn't right is a bit frustrating.

I feel your pain. My wife and my cover artist have basically taken over all decisions about cover and interior art for my book series. My job is to nod and approve everything they want.

I do find your artwork great in any case.

I used DS until the release of DS4. I don't care for it and will not use it. That said, I was using Poser 5 and DS 1.5 way back when. I liked the DS interface but couldn't do somethings and learned Poser to do those.

Poser vs DS3A.. DS has an easier interface for posing, conforming, and setting up lights. Poser has better materials, better dynamic cloth, and better rigging tools.

DS could have been much better if there had been support for the shader room, a way for the average user to make dynamic cloth, if it didn't take 30 minutes to save scenes, bugs in DS3A had been fixed, and there had been some documentation for the features.

Poser's interface for me is harder to work with when setting up lights and posing.

Anything more than this, you will have to talk to me someplace else.
