A magnificent view from the very top of Norway.

The name of this mountaneous area is Jotunheimen, which translates to the title I used. It refers to a race of god-like Giants in norse mythology, out of whose forefather the Gods made the heaven and the earth.

When Jotunheimen was sufficiently explored in the 1800s, after having been shunned in the past for its dangerousness and unfertile ground, a famous Norwegian writer saw reason to name it thus, for its hitherto unprecedented majesty in this land.
