Oooooh, a mysterious mystery! I can solve it. I'm sure I can.
So, uh... there are three possibilities, actually:
1: they are flying to the nearest laundrette, because after a few centuries, those shrouds start to smell a bit, you know?
2: they actually already washed their shrouds, and are currently trapped in a huge spin-dryer.
3: they are flying in circles around your mother, who is so fat that wraiths can't escape her gravitational pull.
