Well, since you did it in Photoshop, hope is not lost. What you need to do is dull down the shine on the background, and then it may look like the Rex is stalking in the evening. In fact, you could add some reds to the overall lighting, make it look like there's a sunset behind the viewer.
Good job with the Rex, btw. VERY anatomically correct.

The background really kills it. It's too shiny, and takes the focus off the tyrannosaur. Doesn't really blend too well either.
Cool job with the dinosaur, you should probably post it without the background.
