I've had this style floating round my head for ages ... I'm positive I saw stuff like this around when I was a kid, printed on the side of cheap tat, but when I came to do research I couldnt find anything like what was in my head, despite a lotta searching through vintage sites...so bugger it, I made my own ref.Edit- bugger, my photoshop settings are so messed up, punched it up a notch.

Thats not really what I'm looking for, but very pretty 
The closest thing I probably grabbed most of this from was Tartakovsky stuff, which makes me wonder if the kind of thing i'm after is from the eastern block. I found a lot of stuff which was like...*almost* there..but didnt have the same bright gaudyness about it.

Alas, I can't remember seeing any of this stuff as a kid! Sorry it wasn't the tpe of thing you're looking for, it just reminded me of some of her work! Hope you find something along the lines of what you're looking for.
