Description "Cimolopterygidae" is a possibly paraphyletic group of birds whose members may or may not be within neornithes, the modern bird group, and as such, whether the group is actually within the charaadriiformes (the shorebird family) as has been historically argued for, is unknown. Regardless, they were present along the shores and waterways of the Lancian region, given their high number of taxa in comparison to all other birds from the region. They are known only from the coracoid, but given the single element is the same overlapping bone, we can ascertain they are all indeed distinct. "C" petra and "C" minima were at one point considered as species of Lamarqueavis when the type species from SA, L. australis, was described, but have since been taken out.
