RE OUTBREAK CITY SERVICES - DOROTHY LESTER

Dorothy Lester was the wife of Dr. Albert Lester - a noted physican who ran the private Arklay Hospice not far from Raccoon City. Six years ago, Dorothy became terminally ill with an uncurable disease. Her husband convinced her that a new experimental drug from Umbrella was the only way to save her life. Trusting in him without question, as only a woman who truly loves her man does, she agreed and began taking the medication. It kept her alive ... but instead of curing her, it transformed her into a monster that eventually took over the Arklay Hospice and forced it to be shut down.

This is the backstory to the events behind the Outbreak File 2 scenario "Flash Back." In the game proper, you only see Dorothy in her final form and near the scenario's end - as little more than a mummified, barely alive corpse. The game gives you a "zombie" form that you can earn as an alternate player character, but Dorothy's original human form exists only as an (unused) hi-res cutscene model. I have ripped all three from the game for you and applied a basic set of female bones using the 3DSMax overlay trick. Dorothy came out surprisingly well, although her finger bones need to be realigned properly and there's something going on with her eyes that I can't seem to fix. I'm releasing Dorothy anyway, knowing that there are better XNALara artists out there who can address these and other issues in this imperfect but workable port.

No, you're not seeing things. Dorothy's human face DOES look like the ones on some of the other Outbreak characters. To save time in development, Capcom's programmers used the same basic half-dozen or so male and female faces for many of its characters - simply skinning them onto different models or slightly altering them so they wouldn't look so alike. Dorothy's face is essentially the same as Laura the businesswoman, Elena the nurse, RPD officer Rita Burnside, Regen Mallet, a couple of RPD and civilian zombies, and so on. This cheat by Capcom becomes even more obvious once you start comparing mid-res and low-res model textures ....
