This is a stunning construction even without truchet. There's another version of it? I tried the one in the Aposhack pack and it just about chokes my poor old laptop.

Thanks

Hmm.. I'd assume the one in the aposhack pack is using the latest version, but if not, Truchets official link is here: [link]

Read the description on that link for tips on how to use & performance - it's a very proc. intensive plugin due to the way it works.

This one's only 1k quality .
At least truchet doesn't need a lot of quality to be effective, but yeah slow monster.

Thinking of re-rendering this a lot bigger for prints and such once Orzammar is done (I'm doing Orzammar large to put in my room)

oh thats a very good tip
though you shouldnt have any very visible other stuff in there.
i mean if you have a plain bubble with pre blur then that part you want to be rendered good.

have you tried chaotica doing truchet?

and Orzammar large would be totally awesome
I'm going to move so I'm really thinking what kind of new real wallpaper i should get and what i would be fractalling xD.

I haven't managed to try chaotica at all yet - not until lyc releases the linux build for 64-bit.

And 64-bit chaotica doesn't do plugins anyway (for good reason).

I can live without for now

Orzammar has ~18 hours remaining, and I'm doing Cie'th at home as we speak (Hopefully my laptop won't overheat...).

As well as Inner Workings, I'm gonna get Orzammar and Cie'th as posters .

Unrelated, but Cie'th looks like a CD cover for Pendulum or MoS I've just noticed >_>

i did forgot you are running linux AGAIN XD.

i know... i use the 32bit version more often too. but sometimes if im lucky i only used native plugins.

pfew ^^

rendering it on a laptop? how large? you must have some bad ass laptop xD.
me want some larger poster things as well...printed on a3 , 300dpi so far and 1 of 25x75cm 300dpi (that one is looking very cool )

i dont know those bands so i guess i'll never know xD

Laptop's not that powerful - 2.1GHz dual core, 2GB RAM, but it's 64-bit which helps tremendously with rendering.
5000², at 4000 quality - means I can scale down to 2500² after for a 25"x25" print, which is a good size.

How do you not know Pendulum? D:
And MoS isn't a band - Ministry of Sound, more of a label.

sounds good
you dont do oversample then i understand.
I dont know my "quality" cause i render in chaotica but 4k is not that much (as i used to render at 10k)

ah ok xD. well would be cool ^^ (the cover)

I always use 2 oversample, and 0.72 Filter Radius.

You shouldn't need more than 4k quality if doing a structured image, ever.

how can you do os 2 if you are doing it 5kx5k if you have 2GB ram?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TyrantWave In reply to piethein21 [2011-06-22 13:05:50 +0000 UTC]

OS2, 5k², 64-bit int, takes up ~750MB RAM in this case.

My computer typically has ~1.7GB RAM free (Unlike windows which uses over a gig RAM, my computer only needs about 200MB)

Thanks
Truchet is a very heavy plugin, I tried making it lighter (Version 2 does fix a lot of this), but there's only so much I could do
