Well my first comment is why did you ask for critique if, your comments are:

Low quality render because I can't be arsed.

That being said, I think this is a beautiful render. My first comment would be you should have rendered at a much hhigher quality, around 10,000 woth filter radius .2 and oversampling at 2. I know it takes a long time, especially how much you zoomed in, but the results are well worth it. The details are nice and intricate, Some more lighting, or brightness, couldn't hurt neither. It leaves me asking if you used any after processing, if IMHO I think you should.

You obviously have the interest so why not take it all the way?

Those spirals look too familiar to me

Maybe too dark for my taste, but I know how picky are those.
I also love the idea of "putting anything inside a julian/a julian inside anything"
