random fun fact: demon/human cross-breeds are called cambion.
another fun fact: nephilim are angel/human cross-breeds and were introduced in the apocryphal Book of Enoch, which also introduced other angel types like principalities, virtues, thrones(which look less like actual thrones and more like wheels with eyes on them) and cherubim(not to be confused with putti, those little fat winged babies. cherubim are warrior angels). the nephilim were described as basically being bloodthirsty giants that were the result of the 'grigori'(watcher) angels having sex with or raping human women. this was part of the reason why god flooded the world for fourty days and nights: to kill the nephilim.
bottom line: shouldn't angels and demons get along like gasoline and fire? i don't think they should be able to breed in the first place
TL;DR the dude who runs ninja theory sucks ass at mythology and the new DmC game sucks

Ahahah, yeah I remember, I did my ancient Judeo-Christian myth research when when I was writing a script for a comic in high school.
Pity ninja theory couldn't do the same xD I assume they used the name because it sounded cool, but srsly. :/ I suppose it depends on whether they're going with the whole "demons are children of Lilith" or "demons are corrupted angels that fell with Lucifer" thing if we're talking biological compatibility.
Besides that point, I thought it was a pretty good game.... as long as I refrain from thinking of Dante and Vergil as Dante and Vergil xD

it's not the genetics i'm thinking about. it's the fact that demons are almost always depicted as evil while angels are almost always depicted as good. last time i checked, holy things do not do well in the hands of the unholy, and i'm sure that unholy things don't do well in the hands of the holy either, so shouldn't both parties be destroyed or at least horribly maimed? if we're talking fallen angels, then maybe it'd work, but again, it's the whole holy vs unholy thing.
so annoying as fuck characters aside it's a fairly solid game?

Yeah, I'm not so much bothered by the process of demon/angel mating (I mean, it's mythology; they can do whatever they want with it) as I am by the fact that they chose to use such a cliched backstory X_x
Yeah : D Fun gameplay, good plot, and all the characters besides the twins are fairly solid =] I wouldn't rank it as memorable as the original dmc or the top of anyone's charts. But certainly worth a playthrough if you can get used to the twins ^^'

Ahaha, I'm glad I could be of service. : D Generally, I'd say the game is very much worth it, even if you're loyal to the old series like I am. But in my case, the new twins will take some getting used to. But hey, some people like the change, maybe you'll like it too =]

I agree. Had this new DMC been a different game, with different characters, then emo kid druggie Dante wouldn't have been so much, well, emo kid druggie Dante. It's a bit frustrating that so many franchises have been rebooting recently. I mean, what happened to pushing the envelope, or, at the very least, being original? Have we really run out of ideas? I may still play through the game, since I've heard it is fun, but I'll wait until it's about $30 cheaper.
Also... Nephilim? I don't even think we went that amateur in highschool. I don't know why, but it just gives me a bad taste in my mouth.

Srsly. D: (Yeah, I would too, or sneak it out of the house of one of your gamer friends xD ) The linked combos are so pretty =w= Yeah, really though, the characters within themselves aren't bad at all. They have development and depth as the story plays on. They're just not Dante and Vergil :/
I know right?! I made so many faces when they got to that part. Not even in my middle school days did I consider god-moding a character with such a cliched backstory. *headdesk*

Lol. None of my gamer friends here will touch it. XD They're old school DMC fans. When it's under $30, I'll get it. XD
I KNOW!!!! Lol. I hate god-moding anything. Maybe the villain... but not usually. XD

But...it's a good game... *sigh* Lookit us being all old fashioned and true to our bisheis lol xD But these two have a special place in my heart because we did so much with them in the good old days x3 Hell, this resurgence makes me want to write DMC fics again xD
Lol, god-moding the villain is called dramatic effect. God moding the protagonist is called stupid.

Lol. I know. But I is broke. Therefore, I wait. Besides, I still have all of... well... half of one Uncharted to beat and I still haven't finished FF Type 0... mostly because I don't speak military Japanese and translating is a pain in the arse. Once all that's done, then I'll get it. If it's cheap.
I know! I kinda wanna write DMC again too, now that I've been looking everything up. Lol.

What vulnerability did half-human Dante have that half-angel Dante doesn't?
With regards to why this had to be a DMC chapter (or side chapter) Capcom lately has been in dire straights to get their franchises up in profitability--with the exception of Street Fighter and Monster Hunter, of course.) The brass over there thought that the only way they could stay fresh was to loan their long running franchises over to Western developers, since somehow all the money was going to that hemisphere. (It was actually just Call of Duty, Halo, and Gears of War)
I for one, didn't know that DMC needed a reboot 0_o I've owned all of the past installments (except the second one). I also know that all the changes were encouraged and approved by Capcom---Ninja Theory's original designs stayed too close to the classic Dante (with a red coat and white hair) and Capcom actually came down on them for being too much like 'fan art' (ouch). Capcom got it in their heads that they needed to 'Batman Begins' the franchise to capture more people--Ninja spent close to year just workshopping the Dante design alone with Capcom.
Needless to say, I'm curious to see how their sales game plays out as a result.
Also, I believe the official word from Ninja Theory is that they are playing the 'alternate reality' card on DmC---so a person could treat it as just another continuity. To some people, that's lessened the sting.
It all reminds me of the Escaflowne TV series versus the movie. (for the record, I was noddafan of the movie )
As for Vergil, I really didn't get a hint of his stance on humanity till the very end; I did not notice a wavering/back-and-forth position myself. I mean, I *knew* he was gonna flip out somehow, naturally. But until he announced his grab for power over the human 'children' in the final scene, I really did not suspect it. To be honest, it blindsided me as I honestly felt that the story was cleanly wrapping up. So I actually got to join in the with the reaction as I watched it dawn on Kat and Dante's face--the shock of betrayal was palpable, thanks mostly to the super cool face acting of the character models

Not physically, and not exactly "vulnerabilities", more "relatable qualities" I guess you could call it? The undertones of Dante's recklessness with his own life and constant smile from before (a large part of his personality) was a unfulfillable death wish from loosing his family, and that survivor's guilt is very much human. It does take a while to notice under all the bravado, but they do explore it in the licensed manga. Also, even when younger, classic Dante had human friends, whereas new Dante's only human contact before Kat seems to be painted whores.
I don't blame you, DMC2 was a travesty to mankind. I've discounted it from the continuum >_>
Yeah, the alternate reality thing is the only reason I didn't throw a hissy fit for two days straight. I still hissed a fit for the aforementioned reasons but I'm slowly calming down and getting used to it lol.
I didn't realize Capcom was in financial difficulty. D:
On Vergil; really? You didn't think so? xD I knew he was trying to be Mundus' replacement in the scene when he met Dante. When he stuck out his hand to silence Kat without even looking at her (subtle indication of his "I am superior" stance). Completely confirmed when he left her to be captured without even trying to help. Train of thought went: He is a man who is fond of order + at the top of it in his own little world + used to power and likes it + cares more for his work than his employees. A man like that doesn't do anything for "the people". Thus; the only option is "New World Order". I actually expected him to turn a lot earlier (when he shot Mudus' demon spawn).
Still, I hope they do well, it is a very good game. But you know how it is; for people (especially girls) who are so attached to already established characters, major changes will always seem weird.

ah, good point then--I had never read the manga back in the day. And as far as the limited list of Dante's human contact goes, don't forget to add 'riot police'
And while I agree that Dante has a mistrust/dislike for demons, it's well founded--they blew up his orphanage after all! However, the meeting with the old demon Phineas shows that Dante can learn to take off the hate goggles pretty quickly.
And yeah, now I'm remembering more of Vergil's actions earlier on---what I meant to say was, I knew he was destined to power grab as much as Uncle Ben is destined to die I had honestly just forgot that it was a thing that was about to happen---that long fight with Godzilla Mundus was draining
I do like how they played up the Prince and the Pauper set up with the twins--Dante was essentially a hedonistic bottom feeding thrill seeker who figured his life wasn't worth much (in light of frequent assassination attempts), and he lived in a TRAILER ON THE BAY. And Vergil had, well, Vergil had shiny tight pants, the biggest throne I've ever seen, as well as a personalized 'V' on his car's dashboard. I kinda love how self absorbed this Vergil is, it's ridiculous And as I had hoped, punk Dante tosses off the hoe bags and puts on the hero shoes by the end. Which almost makes that cringe worth opening worth it--to see how he changed. Trust me, I'm still surprised that I liked it!

Lmao, okay, he has human...er...enemquaintences? xD
I'm pleased with new Dante's character development as well. He got his big boy pants on quick and Phineas was a good influence on him =] Once again, I declare that as a character in himself, he's not bad at all. It's just that I'm so used to and so fond of the old Dante that every time he swears or smokes I just wanna go "stawp it right now D<"
Oh freaking Godzilla Mundus X_x It brought PTSD from fighting Galactus in Ultimate Mvs.C3 lol.
Oh man don't even get me started on how much of a prick Vergil is xD In addition to his personalized everything, I'm still trying to get over his 1950's movie star hat and the logic of wearing a brown shirt with sky blue gloves under the coat. X_x Terrible.
Kat made everything worth it though. I love her >w< She's so freaking cute. I think I like her almost as much as Lady. <3

Vergil turning dark side so easily, was a bit... rushed, I felt. I was hoping that a steadier fall to the dark side, as he takes more and more extreme measures to protect humanity from itself was going to be a plot of the DLC, or maybe even a second game. Without a doubt, I knew Vergil was willing to cross lines to defeat Mundus, that much is obvious from the beginning of DmC. But his particular stance of "We have to protect humanity by being in charge" should've been explored more.

Well put. In the original games, Angels didn't even exist (Those aren't angels in DMC4, they're demons that -look- it). It was just humans and Demons, and Dante and Vergil were basically immortal, and had no weaknesses. All the main characters are pretty damn "god modded" and always have been. Hell, the white hair screams "I'm special".
